Lina the Machinist looks adorable but can be quite fierce in battle. Here’s a guide to help you defeat her.
Size doesn’t matter when you are facing a courageous and fierce opponent such as Lina the Machinist. Despite her small stature, the small Eugief can be quite the troublemaker if you don’t know how to deal with her. She is a random boss. You don’t meet her in a specific Quest or Bounty. Once the calendar strikes 7/23, expect to run into her soon. The encounter will most likely take place while you are traveling to Gracia Forrest.
Neuras will warn the party about another Gauntlet Runner pulling up. Heismay quickly recognizes another Eugief. Despite their similar background, he doesn’t wish to go easy on her. This triggers a cutscene where you face the Machinist head-on. Buckle up folks because you have to do a lot of preparation for a boss even for a boss so tiny.
Teaching Lina the Machinist a Lesson for Life
What to Expect From the Fight
First of all, if you are at Level 32 or above, you are going to have a fair chance of defeating Lina. It is possible that you have already crossed this Level before she makes an appearance in the story. She may look fragile but is a warrior who deserves equal respect!
Lina resists both Strike and Fire skills. Her only known weakness at this point is Ice. We always encourage experimentation, but if you want to get this fight over with, keep reading.
Setting Up the Recommended Party
It all starts with the Protagonist. Get him the Wizard Archetype for the match. If you don’t have it, you can try the Mage one as well. The goal is to exploit her weakness against Ice. Apart from this, Strohl can be the Pugilist for this run and focus on dealing damage with physical attacks.
If you have unlocked the Magic Knight Archetype, assign it to Hulkenberg. She will be the team’s support and a secondary aggro character. Let Heismay handle the rest of the show. Since they are both Eugief, it would make sense that he will use the Assassin Archetype to deal with a member of his community.
The Real Play Starts
Because of her resistance, let’s not focus on anything related to Strike and/or Fire. Rather, it will be the Mage or the Wizard’s duty to inflict Ice damage by hitting Lina the Machinist with the Blizza skill. Striking her weakness will grant you one more attack. Use this opportunity to steal any valuable loot. Heismay will be happy to assist you with this. Ice items like Ice Chunk, Demonic Ice Sickle, and Snow Queen’s Breath are all consumables that will be helpful in targeting Lina’s weakness.
Our little enemy has a Mage Plasma attack that inflicts Electric damage to the entire party. Try ending the battle quickly by exploiting her weakness and striking hard using the Pugilist in the group. The Magic Knight can provide support by debuffing Lina’s defenses with certain attacks. Hopefully, with enough luck, you will be able to make it out of the battle without much harm.
Rewards From the Encounter
Just like most other boss fights in the game, this encounter also gives you a sweet reward. The developers took Lina seriously, regardless of what the players may think. Here is what you will earn:
- EXP: 867
- A-EXP: 248
- MAG: 1000
- Reeve: 1500
