FaZe Clan member and Twitch streamer Rani “Stable Ronaldo” (or simply “Ron”) hosted a live stream (October 23, 2024), in which he was seen lying in a casket and pretending to be dead. The set-up was that of a funeral, with other FaZe Clan members (such as Jason “Jasontheween,” Nick “Lacy,” Alexander “FaZe Adapt” and Richard “FaZe Banks”) attending. However, the entire stream was just a spoof. The streamer is alive and kicking and was later pictured at the NBA game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The stream is an example of the clip-farming trend, which has become a staple among many new-generation streamers. For those unfamiliar with the phrase ‘clip-farming’, it is essentially when a content creator fakes a situation to garner more clicks (the purpose is to click-bait netizens into engaging with their content). Often, these stunts have received backlash for being disingenuous. However, when done right, they have also garnered praise.

FaZe Clan member Stable Ronaldo has rapidly gained popularity within the streaming community. His wild antics and stunts frequently go viral across social media platforms. Unsurprisingly, when he faked his death and staged a full-fledged funeral, clips of the event spread like wildfire on X.com.

Interestingly, just hours after hosting the spoof funeral, which several FaZe Clan members attended, the streamer appeared at an NBA game later that day. He watched the Los Angeles Lakers face off against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Crypto.com Arena.

This game was particularly notable as it marked the first NBA match to feature a father-son duo on the court. LeBron James and his eldest son, Bronny, played together for the first time. A viral photo captured the moment, showing Stable Ronaldo cheering from the sidelines as the iconic duo stepped onto the court. See it here:

Ron wasn’t the only FaZe Clan streamer attending the game. Other notable attendees included Rico “Silky,” Lacy, Jasontheween, Max “Plaqueboymax,” and Josh “YourRAGE,” making it a star-studded event for the streaming community.

Like many of the current generation of streamers, Ron entered the gaming scene when he was around 13 or 14 years old, starting with games like Counter-Strike and Call of Duty. However, it was around 2018-2019, when Fortnite was at its peak, that Stable Ronaldo picked it up. This turned out to be a game-changer for the streamer.

Ronaldo placed #170 in the Fortnite World Cup, earning $675. He used that prize money to upgrade his PC, which helped him elevate his gaming and streaming career.

The COVID-19 period was highly productive for many streamers, including Ronaldo. His following grew exponentially, surpassing 1 million in 2020. He later joined NRG before making the move to the famed FaZe Clan in June 2022.

As of now, Ron has an impressive 3.5 million followers on Twitch and over 700K subscribers on his YouTube channel.
