Kokasados can be a big trouble when unprepared. Learn how to take down the bird in Metaphor ReFantazio without much trouble.
Kokasados typically gets the jump on you if you don’t expect them while playing Metaphor ReFantazio. The game usually always announces a boss fight through a set of dialogues, but facing this big birdie while doing a side quest may not be on your radar.
Soldier’s Solace is a side quest you will receive from an Exhausted Woman in Port Brilehaven. Your main objective is to gather seven Dragonthistle Berries from the Gracia Forrest. Don’t worry, you will find these berries are on the map. You just have to head to the quest markers on the map to find them.
Once you pick up the last one, your party members will sigh in relief, but there’s more. Gallica hears a strange noise, and then the roaring creature, the Kokasados, will attack you.

Take These Into Account First
Being a search quest, the Soldier’s Solace doesn’t have a Level requirement as such. However, if you wish to face Atlus’ version of a pterosaur easily, we recommend you to be Level 35 at least. If you are, don’t head into battle without noting that your feathered enemy can block Wind attacks. It only makes sense.
However, it still comes with its own share of weakness. the Kokasados is weak against Pierce attacks. This is exactly what we will use against it. No matter how big the stature, this Pierce weakness will be the reason for its doom.
Building Up the Attack Party
Let’s switch things up a bit this time. The Protagonist can be the Gunner if you have that Archetype unlocked. Keep Strohl with you to assign him the Pugilist Archetype. Hulkenberg can be the Magic Knight, or anyone from the Knight lineage for that matter. Lastly, Heismay will be the Assassin.
All the members in the party will focus on Pierce skills to make quick work of the bird, all members except Heismay. His main work would be to Steal and Assassinate.
Laying Waste to the Enemy
Put your Gunner Protagonist in the back to support with debuffs. Heismay will join him in the back as the Assassin. The Pugilist and the Magic Knight will be in the front to deal massive Pierce damage. Whenever you get the first appropriate chance, have the Assassin use Steal to gather any rare loot. The Assassinate skill can also do heavy damage to Kokasados and leave it vulnerable with little HP.
Whether or not it works, use your frontline to unload Pierce skills and Synthesis skills like Jump Thrust to inflict massive damage to your enemy. This is the only strategy you will need if your luck doesn’t run out amidst the battle.
You Won’t Leave Empty-Handed
The quest Soldier’s Solace will reward you separately once you put an end to it. However, the impromptu boss fight will also be beneficial because of what you will get in the end. You will receive the following:
- EXP: 990
- A-EXP: 264
- MAG: 750
- Reeve: 950
