Ramsey Khalid Ismael, better known by his online alias “Johnny Somali,” has found himself in hot water for his recent actions in South Korea. For those unaware, Johnny Somali is a controversial internet personality, and he has been reportedly referred to as a “nuisance streamer” on multiple occasions. The American content creator got permanently banned from Kick earlier this year (on April 12, 2024), after authorities arrested him for pinning photos of Jeffrey Epstein, Harvey Weinstein, and Adin Ross to the Western Wall in Jerusalem.

Over the past few months, Somali has been livestreaming his controversial antics in South Korea. On September 27, 2024, the streamer disrupted a live show in the country by playing a Kim Jong Un-themed text-to-speech (TTS) in public. A few days later, on October 1, 2024, he was kicked out of the South Korean subway for playing “obscene audio.”

X user @canceljohnnys shared a minute-long video showcasing the streamer’s actions and wrote:

“Johnny Somali starts KoreaIRL day 4. He goes to Lotte World for a KPOP dance class, then plans to meet up with Bongbongirl. He’s been getting in trouble for playing obscene audio and TTS on the subway.”

Johnny Somali Reportedly Issued Travel Ban From South Korea, Allegedly Faces Up To 10 Years In Prison

In November 2024, reports surfaced on social media, suggesting that South Korea had imposed a travel ban on Johnny Somali. Furthermore, he was allegedly facing “multiple felony charges,” and if convicted, he could face up to 10 years behind bars. X user @ApexEpisodes provided details about the situation, tweeting:

“South Korea has issued a travel ban on influencer and Kick streamer “Johnny Somali,” also known as Ramsey Khalid Ismael, to prevent him from leaving the country as he faces multiple felony charges, including disturbing the peace, assault, trespassing, and drug abuse. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison. Ismael gained notoriety after livestreaming acts of vandalism at a grocery store, harassing women on public transport, and repeatedly desecrating South Korea’s WWII “Comfort Women” memorial.”

The netizen also reported that a former South Korean special forces veteran and YouTuber assaulted the 26-year-old and was “briefly detained”:

“A South Korean YouTuber and former Special Forces veteran recently confronted and assaulted the livestreamer. Though briefly detained, the YouTuber was quickly released and celebrated by locals who are fed up with disruptive behavior from online influencers.”

Johnny Somali has officially not been arrested in South Korea on the aforementioned charges, as of this writing.
