Pokemon TCG Pocket is out and thriving with millions of downloads. The game has sent players on a frenzy to try to strategize the best card decks. The game lets you live the fantasy of catching them all, presenting over a hundred Pokemon for you to collect (or catch). With so many out in the wild and with such varying costs, it may be difficult to determine what’s right for you when on a budget. While low-cost cards may just seem like fodder, there are some hidden gems in the mix that can make a world of difference in battle.

In this guide, we shall go over the five best low-cost cards to use in Pokemon TCG Pocket.

1) Farfetch’d

Farfetch’d is an underdog through and through that you can use to immediately take the fight to your opponent. The card is basic and colorless, yet it comes packed with a low-energy attack, the Leek Slap, that deals 40 damage at just one energy cost. The Leek Slap can be used anytime due to its low cost and can turn the match on its head if used right.

2) Blitzle

Blitzle is another basic card that you must immediately add to your deck. The card can efficiently play the role of tank with its 60 HP, allowing you to withstand most attacks at the start of battle. Its lightning attack deals 20 damage at just one energy cost, making it one of the more balanced cards to have in your deck.

3) Weezing

Weezing is a dark-type card that lets the battle play out more strategically. You will rarely take on the offensive with this card. Instead, you should focus on inflicting status effects on your opponent and limiting their offense. You control the opponent’s pace and attacks, and should they retaliate, Weezing is enough of a tank to survive. The card has a 1 mana attack and can poison with its ability.

4) Marowak ex

The Marowak ex is the perfect card for taking battles head-on with its exorbitant raw damage. The card deals massive 80 damage on an attack and is capable of a double strike. This means you could be dealing 160 damage in a single turn if the coin flips in your favor. If it does not, however, you may end up dealing 0 damage and leaving yourself exposed. If luck runs in your favor, the card can chip away at the opponent easily and is the best low-cost card for dealing damage.

5) Meowth

Meowth is one of the best cards you can pick in the early game. The card is basic and colorless and deals shockingly low base damage, but deceivingly so. The card’s main attraction is its Pay Day ability. This ability lets you draw a card every time you use Meowth to attack. The ability to draw can get you out of a difficult situation and turn the tide in your favor.
