Lure Modules help to attract wild Pokemon to a specific location. Learn how they work, their types, costs, uses, and how to get them.
Lure Modules are items that enhance PokeStops by attracting multiple Pokemon to the area. They work for 30 minutes under normal conditions. When a Lure is active, you and other nearby Trainers can get the benefit. Lures also help some Pokemon to evolve in ways they normally can’t. When you’re near a PokeStop with a Special Lure, you’ll see a new option on the Pokemon’s detail page. This option lets you evolve those Pokemon.
You can buy Lures from the in-game Shop or earn them through Research tasks and leveling up. In this article, you will get everything you need to know about Pokemon GO Lure Modules.
How Many Types of Lure Modules Are There in Pokemon GO
- Standard Lure Module: Attracts a mix of Pokemon from the surrounding area.
- Glacial Lure Module: Attracts Ice and Water type Pokemon.
- Mossy Lure Module: Attracts Bug, Grass, and Poison-type Pokemon.
- Magnetic Lure Module: Attracts Electric, Steel, and Rock-type Pokemon.
- Rainy Lure Module: Attracts Water, Bug, and Electric-type Pokemon.
- Golden Lure Module: Attracts special Pokemon like Gimmighoul and transforms a PokeStop into a Golden PokeStop.
How To Get Lure Modules
1. Shop: Buy With PokeCoins
The easiest way to obtain Lure Modules is by purchasing them from the in-game Shop using PokeCoins. Standard Lure Modules are the most affordable option. You have to pay 100 PokeCoins for a single module. If you want more, you can purchase a bundle of 8 Standard Lures for 680 PokeCoins. The cost of special Lure Modules, including the Glacial, Mossy, Magnetic, and Rainy Lures, is pretty high. You have to spend 180 PokeCoins for each of these Modules.
The Golden Lure Module, on the other hand, cannot be purchased. To unlock a Golden Lure Module, you need to send five Postcards from Pokemon GO to your Nintendo Switch. This unique Lure also offers exclusive rewards like Gimmighoul Coins. It also transforms a PokeStop into a Golden PokeStop.
2. Level Up Rewards
As you reach new Trainer levels, you may earn Standard Lure Modules as rewards. This is a great way to collect Lures without spending PokeCoins. Keep leveling up to unlock these bonuses as part of your journey.
3. Research Tasks
Occasionally, Lure Modules are offered as rewards for completing specific Research Tasks. These tasks vary depending on events and challenges in the game. So keep an eye on available Research opportunities to earn free Lures. For example, in the ‘Special’ tab of Pokemon GO, you will find a task called ‘To the Next Level’ that offers a Lure Module as a reward.
4. How To Use Lure Modules
To use Lure Modules in Pokemon GO, you have to visit a PokeStop. Once at the PokeStop, tap on it to bring up its details. Below the description of the PokeStop, you’ll see a Module slot. This is where you can place a Lure Module. Tap on the module slot to open your inventory of available Lure Modules. From the list of Lure Modules, select the one you want to use. Whether it’s a Standard Lure or a Special Lure, each will attract Pokemon to the PokeStop for 30 minutes.

What Lure Attracts Ghost-Type Pokemon?
