The Zone in Stalker 2 is hell itself, bending over and distorting reality. The land is one of a kind, obeys no laws of nature, and is populated by dangerous, otherworldly creatures. Despite the game’s title, make no mistake: you are the prey. To survive in the Zone, you have to manage resources and pick your fights carefully. Despite a capable arsenal of weapons by your side, bullets are scarce, and sneaking is advised wherever possible. This is where Stalker 2’s stealth system comes into play.
In this guide, we shall go over the stealth system in Stalker 2.
How To Sneak in Stalker 2
You enter stealth mode in Stalker 2 by pressing the crouch button. The crouch button is allotted to the Left Ctrl key on PC and B on Xbox. In the game’s settings, you can set the crouch button to hold or toggle at your convenience. Once crouched, it becomes harder for enemies to spot you. It also cuts down on the sounds you make while moving.
As you sneak around, watch out for enemy patrol patterns and behaviors. While it is harder for them to spot you while crouched, that holds no truth if you’re exposed in their line of sight. If an enemy is close to spotting you, a white arc appears on your screen, pointing in the direction of the enemy. The arc fills up the longer you are exposed, and you are spotted completely once the arc fills up. Move from cover to cover and sneak behind and around enemies to avoid being detected and stay hidden. Make sure to stay crouched as they may hear you if you move otherwise.
Stealth Kills
Move from cover to cover, crouch, and sneak up behind enemies for an opportunity to perform a stealth kill. You will need to have your knife equipped to do so. You can equip your knife by pressing 1 on PC and Y on Xbox. With the blade equipped, sneak up behind an enemy and press LMB on PC or RS on Xbox to perform a stealth kill. This will play out a brief animation of you stabbing the enemy and quickly disposing of them.
If you prefer to take enemies out from a distance, you can equip a suppressor attachment to your pistol. With a suppressor in your inventory, press T on PC or Up on Xbox to equip it. Then, simply go for a headshot for a quick stealth kill.
