How To Become Lucky Friends in Pokemon GO
To become Lucky Friends, you must first reach Best Friend status with someone. Once you’re Best Friends, any interaction that normally raises friendship has a chance to make you Lucky Friends. The odds are low, estimated to be slightly under 2%, according to player research. This status guarantees your next trade will produce Lucky Pokemon, which requires less Stardust to power up. This makes them ideal for training strong Pokemon. You’ll receive an in-app notification if you become Lucky Friends with someone. Your Friend List and Friend Profile page will also display the Lucky Friend status.
When you’re Lucky Friends, your next trade with that friend will make both Pokemon in the trade become Lucky Pokemon. After this trade, the Lucky Friend status resets. You can become Lucky Friends again by continuing to interact and raise your friendship level.
Keep in mind that trading changes a Pokemon’s Individual Values (IVs). Even a high-IV Pokemon may end up weaker after the trade. However, Lucky Pokemon always have IVs of at least 12 in all stats, meaning an 80% or higher overall rating.
