Minecraft’s next big update, The Garden Awakens, is right around the corner, scheduled to release on December 3, 2024, and fans couldn’t be any more excited. The winter game drop brings with it a brand new biome, new mobs, new items, and much more.

Off the heels of the Halloween season, the new biome, monsters, and other features hope to refresh the game with an eerie atmosphere and a fresh new coat of paint. In this article, we shall go over everything that’s coming in Minecraft’s next big update, The Garden Awakens.

What’s New in the Garden Awakens

The Pale Garden

Minecraft The Garden Awakens’ biggest feature and star is its new biome, the Pale Garden. As you step into the Pale Garden, the first thing that will immediately apparent to you is the grim grey aesthetic paired with a haunting and deafening silence. The new biome is a decaying mess clinging on to life. The world’s grey marks a beautiful contrast to the green you’ve seen all these years, creating an unnerving sense of tension. Then, the sun sets.

The Creaking

As the sun sets on this decaying biome, the silence fades and is replaced by creaking in the dark. This death of silence in these lands means the Creaking has spawned. The Creaking is a brand new mob making its debut in The Garden Awakens.

The mob complements the spooky theme of the biome with the new mechanics required to engage with them. The Creaking is seemingly invulnerable. You can deploy a Warden at them, and they will simply tank the hits and march forward. If that wasn’t terrifying enough, the way the move is beyond spooky, too. The Creaking only moves when not observed. They stay still if you stare at them, but the moment your back is turned, they creep up on you quite rapidly.

However, this does not mean that they cannot be dealt with. Hit the Creaking, and they emit light particles that lead you to a tree. Inside this tree is the Creaking’s beating heart. Destroy the heart within to vanquish this terrifying mob. But be careful because you may just have to turn your back to them to chop the tree.

New Resources

The Eyeblossom is a new flower introduced to the game with The Garden Awakens. This rare flower inhabits the Pale Garden. These flowers work differently from traditional flowers and bloom during the dark of the night. The flowers are aesthetically similar to the Creaking, and it is easy to confuse the two, so you may find yourself tricked into an ambush if you are not careful. You can use these flowers to make the ‘Suspicious Stew’ in the game.

Apart from the flowers, Resins are the new resource coming in the update. You get Resin by destroying the Creaking hearts, so you will be facing your fears to obtain the resource. You can use Resin to make Resin bricks, slabs, stairs, etc. These blocks are bright orange, allowing you to pursue different aesthetics for your farm.
