SVP is a term used in Marvel Rivals that new players to the game may not be aware of, so here’s what it means.
Marvel Rivals is a recently released free-to-play third-person hero shooter from NetEase Games. While many of its fundamental gameplay elements may seem familiar to fans of the genre, the term “SVP” has many wondering what it means. This term may have popped up on your screen once you’ve finished a match, but the game doesn’t explain what it is.
To explain briefly, SVP in Marvel Rivals stands for Second Valuable Player. So, if someone gets the SVP tag next to their name on the scoreboard, it essentially means that they’re the runner-up.
SVP in Marvel Rivals Explained
Unlike most games, which only highlight the MVP (Most Valuable Player) after each match, Marvel Rivals also commends the runner-ups. While it should technically be called Second Most Valuable Player, we’re assuming that NetEase Games has abbreviated it to SVP for easy recognition.
Despite this, the term has led to some confusion as very few games use it. For instance, Genesis, a controller-exclusive MOBA from Rampage Games, also uses this term in the post-match screen.
Now, while the MVP is considered the best player in Marvel Rivals, being the SVP also grants you some benefits. In case you’re on the losing side in a match but you’re the SVP, you won’t lose any Rank Points. This basically means that Marvel Rivals rewards individual performance.
Becoming the MVP or SVP requires you to stay on top of the scoreboard by getting a substantial amount of kills, heals, assists, or revives. You may also need to have dealt a high amount of damage while taking the least possible damage yourself.
