In the world of One Piece, where danger is always present, weapons play a crucial role in the heat of battle. Among these, swords are the most prominent and diverse based on their wielder. Known for their exquisite craftsmanship and infusion with Haki, these have gone on to have a legacy of their own.

Hence, we will be exploring 4 sword names from One Piece that stick out among the rest and 4 that have been forgotten for a variety of reasons.

4 One Piece Sword Names Everyone Recognises

The most meticulous blades in One Piece are given grades, and their rarity makes them highly desired by swordsmen in the series. These have become well-known for their origin as well as the power they wield.

1) Enma

Enma is one of the 21 Great Swords and is a vital part of Zoro’s arsenal. As a sword made by Shimotsuki Kouzaburou and wielded by Oden, Enma is described as being able to cut through to the bottom of hell. The sword played a huge role in the Wano Arc, where Zoro struggled to subdue it.

It can bring out excessive amounts of Armament Haki from its user, often leaving behind destruction in its wake. This was shown by Zoro cutting off an entire coastline when simply testing out the sword. The blade is so powerful that both Kaido and Big Mom acknowledge its danger, while it also leaves the former with a scar.

2) Yoru

Yoru is one of the strongest swords in the world and a name we are acquainted with early in One Piece. It is one of the 12 Supreme Grade Swords and is a Black Blade owned by Dracule Mihawk. Since Mihawk has the title of the strongest swordsman in the world, it proves the powers of the sword.

Yoru is massive in size, has a curve, and can destroy huge structures with a single swing. Being a Black Blade, Mihawk can apply his Armament Haki through it and pull off large-scale attacks such as the “World’s Strongest Slash.” Despite only making a few appearances, it is a symbol of ultimate power in One Piece.

3) Ace

As another one of the 12 Supreme Grade Swords, Ace was the signature cutlass weapon of Gol D. Roger. The sword was never recorded to take any damage and could be used to create devastating horizontal Supreme King Haki slashes.

This helped Roger eventually become the Pirate King in One Piece. Ace was also notably used during his iconic battle against Whitebeard, which lasted for four days. The sword ended up being so important to him that Roger named his son after it too.

4) Gryphon

Just like its owner, Gryphon is an equally enigmatic sword we don’t know much about. It does not have a grade but is extremely durable and strong. As it is capable of clashing with Yoru, many fans believe it is at least the level of a Supreme Grade Sword.

The most memorable instance of Gryphon was when Shanks used it along with Armament Haki to block Akainu’s Magma punches. It also slashed through Kid when Shanks hit him with Supreme King Haki. Hence, even with its limited screen time, Gryphon has captured the attention of the fandom. We cannot wait to find out more about the lore and abilities of the sword.

4 One Piece Sword Names No One Remembers

The existence of so many unforgettable swords in One Piece inevitably creates those that fall out of memory. These are not necessarily weak but could have been overshadowed by more famous ones. 4 One Piece sword names no one remembers are:

1) Durandal

The Durandal sword made its first appearance in the Dressrosa Arc, wielded by the flamboyant Cavendish. As a rapier, it is flexible and much more durable than other swords. Taking after its self-absorbed owner, Durandal has an elegant and intricate design.

Its main benefit is its speed and precision, with which it can rapidly pierce opponents. Unfortunately, despite its eccentric wielder, this is one sword name that often gets overlooked.

2) Kashu

Unlike Durandal, which does not have a grade, Kashu is one of the 50 Skillful Grade Swords. This is still not enough for it to make its name, however, since its owner is not a very familiar face in One Piece.

Upon defeating Mr. 11 from Baroque Works, Tashigi from the Marines took ownership of this blade. It is practical and fitting for the Marine who hopes to become a powerful swordsman but still has nothing that sticks out about its design. Since Tashigi herself has not earned many prominent feats in the series yet, the sword has also not made a reputation for itself.

3) Ame no Habakiri

Ame no Habakiri is a unique addition to this list because it is one of the 21 Great Swords that Oden wielded. While technically serving the same role as Enma and injuring Kaido, the sword has been overshadowed by its famous counterpart.

Known to slice through the heavens, Ame no Habakiri made up Oden’s Two Sword Style and was a testament to his immense power. After his death, it was passed on to Momonosuke. Since Momonosuke himself did not think himself to be worthy of wielding the blade, he has not faced as many battles as Zoro’s Enma. Its potential and connection to Oden’s legacy deserve more recognition, but until it takes center stage, it remains one of the lesser-known swords in One Piece.

4) Kikoku

Kikoku is an ungraded Cursed Sword that is used by Trafalgar D. Law. As a long single-edge sword, the blade has a distinctive hilt wrapped in bandages. While the sword itself is of high quality, it is not used for standard purposes.

Rather, Law uses it to channel his Ope Ope no Mi. Through this, he can use invisible slashes on targets, often powerful enough to cut through mountain ranges. However, most fans mainly attribute these abilities to the Devil Fruit rather than the actual sword. Therefore, Kikoku remains an overseen blade that is vital to Law’s battles.

Conclusion

The expansive world of One Piece is filled with legendary sword names that fans can never forget as well as those neglected. Nevertheless, most of these weapons are pivotal to the characters using them while enhancing their powers.

Whether recognized universally or only known by a niche group, every sword in One Piece helps enrich its lore and shape important battles.
