Vargir the Feral Mutt is a boss you face pretty early on in Path of Exile 2 (PoE2). Learn how to put him down.
Players will confront Vargir the Feral Mutt in PoE2 without having to spend too much time in the game. This is exciting news for those who like boss fights in RPGs. You come across this big guy during Act 1 of the campaign itself.
Visit Ogham Farmlands and reach the Crop Circle in the cornfield region here. This is where Vargir will be waiting to jump you. However, his ambush isn’t that direct. He is smart and sends his minions first.
Putting Down Vargir in PoE2
As soon as you enter the area, a pack of wild dogs will run towards you to attack you. This is where you would want to use your most powerful AoE attacks. We recommend AoE specifically because it can take out the pack in less time.
Once the horde is cleared out, keep your DPS engaged at Vargir. He deals Physical Damage rather than playing with any elements. Most of the attacks are also melee in nature. So, if your character has good ranged damage, now will be a good time to use it.
Evading his attacks shouldn’t be that much of an issue because he is a relatively low-level boss. Don’t rush in and wait for openings before landing an attack.
Once you defeat the Feral Mutt, he drops an Uncut Skill Gem. This is a type of gem in the game that can prove to be pretty helpful. If you are confused about using it, don’t worry; we have got you covered.
Using Vargir’s Loot in PoE2
In Path of Exile 2, you don’t get skill points directly after leveling up. Instead, you must use these Skill Gems to equip a certain skill. The number that an Uncut Skill Gem has on it determines what level skill it can unlock for you.
Whatever the level of a gem is, always know that it will unlock a skill that comes under that level scale only. These gems can also upgrade an existing Skill Gem to the Uncut Gem’s level. You can then use them cumulatively for a higher skill.
Using it is pretty simple, much like using an Uncut Spirit Gem. Once you have acquired the said gem, open the inventory, hover over the item, and right-click to start the process. Engrave the chosen skill. Once engraved, you can then equip this gem in a skill slot.
