After the seemingly month-long debate surrounding Elden Ring’s nomination at The Game Awards 2024, FromSoftware had their mic drop moment at the event and revealed Elden Ring Nightreign. The game is a standalone co-op adventure that will see players returning to the Lands Between and facing enemies both old and new.

Elden Ring Nightreign was featured in an extensive trailer that showcased plenty of new stuff, so let’s not waste time and let’s discuss. In this trailer breakdown, we shall go over everything you need to know about Elden Ring Nightrein based on its GA 2024 trailer.

Elden Ring Nightreign Trailer Breakdown

Emphasis on Co-Op

The first thing that stood out immediately in the game’s TGA 2024 trailer was the intense focus on co-op. Several shots during the trailer showcased two players wreaking havoc and obliterating some early-game enemies. Here, the game showed off some new co-op moves that can be done in sync. The trailer also featured several shots of the characters running together, so we hope to see tweaks in the game’s multiplayer system.

New Enemies

The thing that stood out the most in the reveal, however, was the reveal of the enemies. Plenty of new bosses are set to come with the game. The trailer showed massive wold-like creatures, large eagles, spiders, a giant knight, a decaying dragon, and much more. Long-time Soulsborne fans would immediately notice the man flying on the dragon wielding lightning. Yes, the game seemingly showed the Nameless King from Dark Souls 3 flying around in an arena and attacking the two players.

Lore Implications

We do not know if it was him for sure, but the silhouette of the man and the dragon fit the description of the Nameless King boss. The lightning spear seals the deal and pretty much removes all doubt. The Nameless King popping up in Lands Between opens up a plethora of possibilities for the game’s lore. How does Elden Ring tie into Dark Souls? We do not know yet, but we cannot wait to discover.

New Locations

As is the case with any FromSoftware game, the locations are the star of the show, and the Elden Ring Nightreign trailer seems to understand that. The trailer showed several locations never seen before, including one with an orange sky and another with a purple sky similar to the underground of the base game. There were also shots of what seem to be new legacy dungeons that will put your skills to the test.
