Fishing in Abiotic Factor is a safe way to get your hands on some food. Learn everything about Fishing in this article.

Abiotic Factor strands you in an underground facility, where you survive against all odds, surrounded by Mutants, deadly Security Robots, and some useful NPCs (many are not).
You must eat, sleep, fight, travel, and even defecate to survive.
Slaying Peccary and Pest will give you food. However, you need to overcome these creatures first. During this time, one wrong move will end your life and send you back to a Checkpoint.
A relatively easy way to source food is Fishing in Abiotic Factor. Let us discuss how you can meet your fish cravings in this game.
Fishing in Abiotic Factor
Requirements
First, you need a rod to start fishing. Unfortunately, the Throw Net does not help in Fishing.
Given below are the rods you can use for Fishing:
Item | Recipe | Repair Item |
Fishing Rod | 1x Stapler, 2x Desk Phone, 4x Plastic Scrap, 2x Wooden Plank | Wooden Plank |
Insulated Rod | 4x Hexwood, 2x Capacitor, 2x Fisherman’s Glue, 1x Stapler | Wooden Plank |
As you can see, Insulated Rod requires some advanced items to craft. You can easily source the contents required for a Fishing Rod in the Office Sector.
How To Fish

Wield your rod and then cast your line into a body of water. You can fish in any tainted water body, be it the Fountain before the Office Sector Tram Station or the green, toxic waters in the Shipping sector of Manufacturing West.
When a fish silhouette appears and bites, counter its movement using directional keys until it gets tired. Once it stops resisting, reel the fish in.
To equip bait, hold the “Reload” key (default R), select the desired bait from the wheel, then release the key.
List of Fish in Abiotic Factor
Catches are either fish or junk like Bio Scrap. Most areas offer a 50/50 chance, though some zones dish out more junk than others. Fish require three tugs before being caught, while junk only triggers one brief pull.

Tips and Tricks
The body of water you are Fishing in determines your catch, which can either be junk or fish. In most cases, there’s about a 50% chance of catching a junk.
Fish availability often shifts with the time of day, which is shown on the player’s watch (default T). While this time-based behavior is mostly consistent across fishing zones, each zone has its unique characteristics for the appearance of fish and their frequency. However, the effect of external modifiers, e.g., bait or the Lucky Fishing Hat, on these probabilities remains unclear.
