Abiotic Factor lets players capture and tame Pests, forming bonds with them. Here is how the mechanic works and what you can do with the tamed Pests.

Abiotic Factor is a survival crafting game developed by Deep Field. Similar to many modern survival games, it includes a taming system. However, instead of traditional companions like dogs and cats, here you will be working with small potato-like creatures named Pests. Despite being hostile, these Pests can be good companions and allies when tamed. Even better, they can also generate power for your base. If you have ever found these little critters adorable, here is how you can capture and tame Pests in Abiotic Factor.

How To Capture and Tame Pests in Abiotic Factor

To capture Pests, you will need a Pest Trap. These deployable traps can be crafted with 1x Stapler, 2x Duct Tapes, and 1x Nachos. While the Stapler and the Duct Tapes can be obtained in the Office Sector, Nachos are found in the Flathill portal world.
Once you craft a Pest Trap, place it at the right spot, preferably near where Pests spawn. If placed in its roaming path, a Pest will approach and get trapped. Approach a captured Pest and feed it with 3x Nachos or 3x Anteverse Wheat. If a stream of hearts pops up above its head, it means that you have successfully tamed the Pest. You can now release the Pest to pet it or order it to follow you. Be careful not to release it before taming, as it becomes hostile towards you.
What To Do With Tamed Pests in Abiotic Factor?
With the Pest Trap, you can capture various creatures like Pests, Electro-Pests, Volatile Pests, and Skinks. Taming these creatures allows you to pet them, feed them, and rename them as you wish. You can make tamed Pests follow you everywhere, acting as your ally. They accompany you in battle by attacking anything hostile to you. You can also send them back to the cage when needed.
In addition to being a companion and ally, Pests can also generate electricity for your base. Tamed Pests produces temporary electricity when placed in the Pest Wheel, which can be crafted with 1x Power Cell, 1x Pest Trap, and 8x Metal Scrap. You can transfer the electricity to items that require power, similar to standard power sockets.
