How To Unlock the Protective Ability in Abyssus
Protective Ability, also known as Brine Field, is unlocked when you complete a challenge. You will need to Ascend the Pillars in the room located in the Depth. You can easily identify this room by noticing a series of pillars that are progressively taller, forming a staircase of sorts. Climb the pillars and then jump onto the central pillar in the room to find the Brine Field pickup.
With the Brine Field, you can create a circular zone around you. This zone protects you from incoming damage, allowing you to hold your ground during some of the toughest fights. Since it’s a zone and not armor, your allies can also take advantage of the shielding by getting inside the zone’s radius. Over time, you can use upgrades to increase the size of the zone. With the right build, the zone radius can become significant in size.

- Drop a Brine Field zone during boss fights when you’re facing significant threat. It can shield any incoming damage and give you more time to put a dent in the boss’s HP.
- Use it at chokepoints to funnel any approaching enemies into the safe zones where you can attack but won’t receive damage in turn.
- Unleash devastating AoE skills while the field is active. This ensures that your enemies receive the full blast, while you won’t get affected by the damage.
- Ancient Forge mods for the Brine Field can increase its range and duration or add beneficial secondary effects.
