Everything you need to know about the Expeditions in Elden Ring Nightreign, including details on how to unlock them, the Nightlords, and more.

Elden Ring Nightreign is a vastly different game compared to anything FromSoftware has ever created, despite sharing the Elden Ring name. Unlike the original Elden Ring, Nightreign isn’t an open-world game. Instead, it features a significantly smaller map (Limveld) that changes every time you revisit it. In Nightreign, you don’t get to endlessly explore every corner of Limveld. Instead, you head out into the Lands Between via a process called Expeditions. And during these Expeditions, you’re primarily tasked with taking down the Nightlord. However, every Expedition is unique and can also feature additional objectives outside of the Nightlords.
When you start the game for the first time, you only have access to a single Expedition. However, as you progress through the story, and defeat Nightlords, you will unlock new Expeditions, with new altered maps os Limveld as well as new bosses. Here’s a look at all the Expeditions in Elden Ring Nightreign, and the bosses (Nightlords) they feature.
List of All Expeditions in Elden Ring Nightreign

Every Expedition in Elden Ring Nightreign is tied to one of the Nightlords. At the start of the game, you only have access to the Tricephalos Expedition, which is for the boss, Gladius, Beast of Night. However, once you defeat Tricephalos, you will get access to 6 more Expeditions. It should be noted that, due to how progression is handled in Nightreign, you aren’t forced to tackle Expeditions sequentially. Once you defeat Gladius, you can choose to complete other Expeditions out of order. For instance, after defeating Gladius, you can choose to go for Fissure in the Fog or Equilibrious Beast right away, instead of tackling the previous Expeditions.
That said, once you complete 4 Expeditions successfully, you will unlock the finale – Night Aspect. The Night Aspect is the final Expedition and features the final boss of Elden Ring Nightreign. Here’s a list of all the Expeditions in Nightreign:
- Tricephalos: Gladius, Beast of Night
- Gaping Jaw: Adel, Baron of Night
- Sentient Pest: Gnoster, Wisdom of Night
- Augur: Maris, Fathom of Night
- Equilibrious Beast: Libra, Creature of Night
- Darkdrift Knight: Fulghor, Champion of Nightglow
- Fissure in the Fog: Caligo, Miasma of Night
- Night Aspect: Heolstor, the Nightlord
What Are Expeditions in Elden Ring Nightreign?

Expeditions are effectively the “main quests” that you undertake in Elden Ring Nightreign. Essentially, once you have chosen your Nightfarer, you need to head to the Roundtable Hold’s central section and select which Expedition you and your team want to undertake. Expeditions serve as the sandbox where you will spend the majority of your time playing Nightreign. Furthermore, much like a rogue-like game, each Expedition is slightly altered, with new enemy placements, loot, and more. As such, even if you’re replaying the same Expedition, each visit will offer a fresh experience. The Nightfarers always start an Expedition at Level 1.
However, as you go on defeating bosses, you will eventually level up. And by the time you reach the Nightlord, you will have leveled up to at least Level 10. Every Expedition is divided into three days, with each day ending with a major boss fight. And, on Day 3, you get to fight the Nightlord of that specific Expedition. You can reach the Nightlord at lower levels; however, ideally, you want to hit at least Level 10 by the end of Day 2. In the current version of Nightreign, the Nightfarer Level is capped at 15.
However, unless you have Rune acquisition-boosting Relics equipped, you won’t be able to reach Level 15 consistently in every Expedition. The ideal level to beat a Nightlord is Level 12. However, with better time management, you can easily reach Level 13 or even 14 by the end of Day 2.
