Everything you need to know about the Nightlords in Elden Ring Nightreign, including details on expeditions, how to unlock them, and more.

Bosses are the bread and butter of any good souls-like experience, and Elden Ring Nightrreign is no stranger to this rule. The game’s main bosses, dubbed the Nightlords, are easily the toughest challenge you will face during your Expeditions. Even the first few Nightlords in Nightreign offer a challenge that easily rivals the difficulty of the original Elden Ring’s endgame. While they aren’t impossible to defeat, the Nightlords are a pinnacle of challenge that will require you to have a fairly good knowledge of your chosen Nightfarer and their abilities. Thankfully, before you face the Nightlords, you get plenty of time to not only level up but also collect higher rarity gear to aid you in battle.
However, even with a powerful loadout, making a few too many mistakes during a battle against a Nightlord can cost you your run. That said, the Nightlord battles are a spectacle to behold, both in terms of their presentation and difficulty. Here’s a list of all the Nightlords (main story bosses) in Elden Ring Nightreign.

What Are Nightlords in Elden Ring Nightreign?

The Nightlords are the manifestations of the “Night” that has seemingly engulfed a part of Limgrave (Limveld). Much isn’t known about the Nightlords and their origin. However, they do seem to be tied to the histories of the Nightfarers themselves. As you progress through the main story, i.e., Expeditions, you will unlock memory fragments for the Nightfarers. You get a guaranteed memory fragment for defeating a Nightlord with every single Nightfarer. This indicates that the characters you meet have connections tied to the Nightlords and also, Heolstor. However, as is the case with every FromSoftware game, the true meaning behind the Nightlords is left to the player’s own interpretation.
In terms of gameplay, the Nightlords are the ultimate challenge you will face if you manage to survive till Day 3 of your Expedition. Every Nightlord has their own element and gimmick tied to them. For instance, Gladius can split into three, Libra can inflict madness and apply a debuff based on the choices you make ahead of the battle, etc. In addition to that, every Nightlord has their own elemental weaknesses, which you can exploit with weapons with elemental affinity.
List of All Nightlords (Main Story Bosses) in Elden Ring Nightreign

As of the release of Elden Ring Nightreign, there are a total of eight Nightlords in the game, including Heolstor, the true Nightlord. However, FromSoftware has plans to add more bosses (Nightlords) to the game in the future, as part of post-launch DLCs. The Deluxe Edition of the game even comes with a DLC Pass that mentions the same. It should be noted that Nightlords aren’t the only bosses in the game. There are plenty of overworld and dungeon bosses in the game.
Furthermore, there are also some returning bosses from FromSoftware’s past catalogue of games in Nightreign. That includes Duke’s Dear Freja, Smelter Demon, Nameless King, and more.
