In this guide, we will explore all the Split Fiction side story locations, along with how you can unlock each of them.
Split Fiction is a co-op adventure game following Zoe and Mio as they are trapped in the world of stories they wrote as authors. The game spans multiple chapters. However, some of these chapters have stories that are not directly connected with the current story but give us insight into the two main characters’ past.
Zoe and Mio wrote these side stories long before they became experienced authors. This makes each of the side stories a unique experience where players have no idea what is going to happen. The side stories unlock as you naturally progress through the game. However, they are optional and easy to miss.
We have listed all the Split Fiction side story locations and explained how to unlock them in this guide.
All Split Fiction Side Story Locations
Not every chapter of Split Fiction has side stories available in it. Here are all the chapters and the available side stories in them:

How To Unlock Each Side Story in Split Fiction
Every Split Fiction side story is optional for you to play. Because of this, most of the exciting content can be easily missed. To help you get the full experience of the narrative of Split Fiction, we have listed how to start each of the side stories below:
Neon Revenge
- The Legend of the Sandfish: You have to get through the beginning of the Neon Revenge chapter. A cutscene plays after the highway chase sequence, introducing this side story.
- Farmlife: You first have to defeat Mr. Hammer and then follow the main path until the end of the chase sequence. A cutscene plays, introducing this side story.
- Mountain Hike: At some point in the Neon Revenge chapter, you have to throw another player over the street in a portable toilet. Instead of doing that, throw them onto a balcony below so that another player can kick down a ladder to help their friend get up. This starts the side story.
Hopes of Spring
- Train Heist: You have to reach the section of this chapter where you drag a player across a pond. The characters will point out the portal when you get close to it. Then, both players have to wall-run and grapple across a pond to reach a ledge and enter the side story.
- Gameshow: The portal for this side story can be found after the section where a player has to navigate as a monkey and a fish. After that, when both players meet together, head left to a huge building. The characters comment on the portal being close by.
- Collapsing Star: At some point in this chapter, you have to enter a huge castle in the Halls of Ice mission. This is a hard-to-miss section. Instead of going ahead, go to the right side to find this side story.
Final Dawn
- Kites: In this chapter, there is a section with moving cylinders. Inside the hallway with the cylinders, you have to take the path on the left side to progress the story. Instead, go forward to the end of the hallway to find this side story.
- Moon Market: You reach a section where both players have to pass through red and blue gates and then move across platforms in a hallway. Instead of going forward, look for an opening on the left side where this side story is located.
- Notebook: In this chapter, you reach a point where you have to use a jetpack to glide over a huge pipe. You can see the side story when reaching the left side of the pipe. You have to use your jetpack to reach the location.
Rise of the Dragon Realm
- Slopes of War: In this chapter, look for a section where you have to jump over two golden globes. The side mission is to the left of the area before the stone-skipping section with a lever puzzle.
- Space Escape: This is right at the start of the Craft Temple mission. Exit the cave and head to the right instead of going forward. You can soon find this side story.
- Birthday Cake: At the beginning of the Treasure Temple mission, you have to walk down a path of pink crystals. You have to take the right path to reach the temple. Instead of doing that, head left to find your last side story.
