Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will involve a lot of characters to meet and play alongside. Here are all the major characters in Expedition 33.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will have you embark on a journey to defeat the Paintress, a mysterious entity who is slowly causing the deaths of the entire human race. Naturally, you won’t be alone in this epic quest.
There will be many characters who will be part of your team and a lot of enemies as well. Here are the major characters that we know so far.

Major Characters in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
As the name suggests, the story revolves around an expedition. You are tasked with putting an end to the Paintress’ actions, which cause humans to decrease in number as the years go by.
Along the way, you will form a party with many friends who will become a part of this Expedition 33 crew. The characters we know so far are:
Gustave
Gustave is an engineer and the main focus of the game. Being an engineer who grew up under the shadow of the looming threat of the Paintress led him to join the expedition against the Paintress in what might be his final year.
He has a close relationship with Maelle (his foster sister), another party member on the expedition. During combat, Gustave wields a sword and pistol. He fights for a better future, where the Paintress won’t be able to steal anyone else’s future.
Maelle
The foster sister to Gustave, she is an orphan. Currently only 16 years old, she is significantly younger when compared to the other cast members.
In combat, she wields a rapière-fleuret with elegance and speed. Due to her not fitting in at Lumière, she sees this expedition as a chance to explore the outside world. So, it will be interesting to see her character develop as the story progresses.
Lune and Sciel
These are two more characters who are part of the expedition.
Lune is from a family of researchers and seeks to solve the mystery behind the mysterious antagonist of the game: the Paintress. Additionally, she has been tasked with navigating the party in the right direction, which makes her role quite substantial and important.
Meanwhile, Sciel has a warm personality, which hides her dark past. She does not have any fear of death, as she long accepted the reality of their situation. Still, she will do everything in her power to help the expedition without any fear of failure. She uses the Scieleson in combat.
Other Major Characters in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Two more mysterious characters we don’t know much about are Renoir and Verso. Both of these characters bear similar-looking scars over their eyes (albeit on opposite sides). Renoir is an older character who is on a quest to save his family, and he is willing to do so by any means necessary.
On the other hand, Verso is a mysterious outsider who monitors the expedition closely. His motivations, backstory, and personality all remain a mystery for now. As the game gets closer to release, we may get some more details on his character.
