In this guide, we’ll delve into all the weapons found in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, exploring their distinct characteristics, how they influence combat, and the strategies they best enable. From basic weapon types to the difficult combo chains, we aim to explain the depth and variety that make these weapons more than just tools of war. Therefore, whether you’re a newcomer or a seasoned warrior, read on to discover everything you need explained about all weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.
Weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
There are a total of 10 different weapon types you can use in Dynasty Warriors: Origins. These include swords, spears, gauntlets, wheels, padaos, staves, twin pikes, lances, crescent blades, and halberds. Moreover, you won’t have access to all of these types at the start of the game. Most will only unlock as you play through the game and reach certain objectives. For example, the halberds will not unlock until you have completed the main campaign once.
Additionally, weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins can be found in the weapons shop or they will drop after you defeat bosses or complete battles. Dropped weapons will always have better or more traits than those found in the shop. However, the traits you receive will be random.
Furthermore, you will gain weapon proficiency for each weapon type as you use it in battle and kill enemies. As you gain proficiency, you will increase your weapon’s rank. Reaching new ranks can unlock additional stats and more powerful weapon combos.
In your first playthrough, the maximum weapon rank you can achieve with each weapon type is 8. However, after completing the main campaign the first time you will be able to continue leveling your weapon proficiency up to Rank 11.
Weapon Grades in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
In Dynasty Warriors: Origins your weapons do not have levels or rarity qualities, but instead are ranked by Weapon Grades. Weapon Grades start at level 1 and can reach a maximum of Grade 7.
Furthermore, within each weapon grade you can also have weapons with higher base stats. For example, the General’s Sword is a Grade 3 weapon with an attack stat of 80. The General’s Sword +8 is also a Grade 3 weapon, but it will have a base attack stat of 88.
Additionally, the higher your weapon’s grade the more trait slots it will have. Therefore, not only will higher weapon grades have stronger base attack stats, but your damage and strength can also dramatically increase due to additional traits.
Weapon Traits in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
All weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins will have at least one trait slot, with a trait that can boost attack power, Battle Art, drops, and more. When looking at a weapon in your inventory, you can see at a glance how many traits it has by the diamonds listed underneath the name. Each diamond represents a trait slot. Weapons can have up to six trait slots at maximum.
Furthermore, the weapons found in the shop will all have set traits that are static and predictable. They are the same for each weapon type at each weapon grade. However, the traits found on dropped weapons are random. Dropped weapons are always more powerful than weapons found in the shop. Moreover, they will nearly always have a higher number of traits on them.
Finally, you cannot change the traits you find on your weapons until after you have played through the main campaign once. After you have completed the story the first time, new features will unlock. This includes the ‘Reforge’ option, which will appear on the same screen as the Weapon Shop. Here, you will have the option to change your weapon traits.
All Swords in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
The sword weapon type is unlocked automatically at the beginning of Dynasty Warriors: Origins. It will be the first weapon you use and start to earn weapon proficiency with.
Moreover, you will earn a Longsword +2 after the Battle of Guangyang, an early-game mission. Therefore, it’s best to stick with the first sword you are given, rather than spending precious gold to upgrade to a basic Longsword.
