Unlock animals, boost gold, and master barn upgrades in Build an Island with this full guide. Collect smart, earn faster, and start now.
Build an Island just raised the stakes by letting you raise animals, and every creature you hatch now has a direct impact on your coin pouch.
This guide walks you through the entire barnyard process, from unlocking your first pen to chasing down Rainbow-tier pets that print gold while you build. We cover where to park each animal, which gacha egg gives what, and how much profit you squeeze out of a single haybale.
Animals in Build an Island
Getting animals in Build an Island is one of the most important steps in increasing your passive gold income. Start by expanding your island to the right of the Merchant. This unlocks a bridge leading to the barn area, where you’ll find two gacha machines: one for Starter Eggs and another for Premium Eggs.
Once you unlock the barn:
- Buy an egg.
- Hatch it to pull an animal.
- Open your inventory, equip the animal, and walk up to the barn.
- Place the animal inside to begin generating gold.
Animals in Build an Island earn gold by eating Haybales, which you make by collecting Wheat and converting 4 units into 1 Haybale at the Hay Baler. The gold earned increases with the rarity of the animal. On top of that, animals also poop, so collect each poop for an easy 100 gold.
To scale faster:
- Unlock more barns to house more animals.
- Upgrade to better eggs (Farm, Elite, Exotic).
- Target Gold or Rainbow animal variants for better returns.

Starter Egg Animals
- Dachshund – 50% chance – 7 gold
- Cat – 40% chance – 9 gold
- Chicken – 10% chance – 11 gold
Farm Egg Animals
- Pig – 50% chance – 12 gold
- Sheep – 45% chance – 14 gold
- Cow – 5% chance – 16 gold
Elite Egg Animals
- Rabbit – 65% chance – 17 gold
- Duck – 34% chance – 19 gold
- Eagle – 1% chance – 27 gold
Exotic Egg Animals (Robux Only)
- Alpaca – 49% chance – 22 gold
- Owl – 22% chance – 24 gold
- Macaw – 14% chance – 26 gold
- Capybara – 10% chance – 28 gold
- Panda – 4% chance – 30 gold
- Peacock – 1% chance – 32 gold
Each animal has three possible forms:
- Regular – Base stats
- Gold – Higher gold per Haybale
- Rainbow – Highest gold yield
Keep in mind, the third barn requires Salt and Salt Bags, which you unlock later in the game. Until then, focus on building a solid lineup of animals in Build an Island from the first two barns.
