Anime often features unique sibling dynamics and is infamous for its brother/sister complex characters. However, this list focuses on wholesome sibling relationships, restoring faith in the strong bond between brothers and sisters. One great example is the relationship between the Elric Brothers in Fullmetal Alchemist.
Like Fullmetal Alchemist’s Elric Brothers, we have compiled a list of 10 anime siblings who share a similar relationship.
1) Nezuko Kamado and Tanjiro Kamado (Demon Slayer)
They are the most devoted and hardworking sibling duo. After Tanjiro lost his family, Nezuko was turned into a demon. He did not give up on his sister. Their bond is so strong that he can control her urge to kill people, keeping her tamed at all times.
When Giyuu mistakes her for a bloodthirsty demon and attacks, Nezuko protects Tanjiro, who was knocked out during the fight and becomes extremely protective of him. He took responsibility for her, worked hard, and became a devoted brother and a skilled demon slayer. And Nezuko is the cutest in the whole series. Both of them have helped the Demon Slayer Corps. When Uzui was badly hurt after the fight in Entertainment District Arc, Nezuko walked up to him and, with her regeneration abilities, saved him.
Tanjiro has a meek personality, is super dedicated, and has a hardworking attitude toward everything. He is the embodiment of being earnest. Nezuko is a devoted family member who is protective of them. She is very kind and caring. When Giyuu’s kimono was torn after a fight, she sewed it up. They are the most wholesome anime sibling duo.
2) Takumi Aldini and Isami Aldini (Shokugeki no Soma)
They are half-Japanese, half-Italian, and talented chefs. Throughout the series, they are seen working together as a team and helping each other grow. Both have a great relationship that makes them a great anime sibling duo.
Takumi Aldini is seen as a better cook than his brother, but they do not have a rivalry. Instead, he helps Isami improve as it is their dream to work in Trattoria Aldini, their family restaurant. Their dream is to make it the No. 1 restaurant in Italy.
Takumi is the older fraternal twin. He is fierce and loud. Takumi is insanely competitive and a bitter loser. His specialty is Italian cuisine, which earned him the 7th seat of the Elite Ten Council. Takumi is also protective of his brother and will do everything he can to silence those who mock Isami.
On the other hand, Isami is shown to be calmer and better in social settings than his brother. He is also competitive but keeps it to himself and silently works on it. Isami has an inferiority complex as he compares himself to Takumi and wants to surpass him in a healthy, competitive manner. He respects Takumi and acknowledges his skills.
3) Shigeo Kageyama and Ritsu Kageyama (Mob Psycho 100)
Initially, it was Shigeo, the older brother, who had esper powers in Mob Psycho 100. Eventually, his younger brother also activates them. Both of them share a great bond, and the younger brother always admires and respects Shigeo. When two guys bully Mob, Ritsu immediately steps in to protect him and tells him not to waste his power on them, assuring him that he can handle it.
Shigeo had stopped displaying his powers in public after he hurt his brother, as he was unable to control his emotions. He has an inferiority complex toward him and always thought Ritsu was very cool and popular. In this duo, Mob prefers being calm and would not resort to violence unnecessarily.
Ritsu, the younger brother, awakens his powers later in life. He, too, feels inferior to Mob as he measures one’s worth by whether they have powers. Ritsu is loud and does not hesitate to use his power for violence. He was always on guard, wondering what he would do if Mob unleashed his true powers. They eventually make up because, at the end of the day, they are brothers and sort things out.
4) Aqua Hoshino and Ruby Hoshino (Oshi No Ko)
They are twins and children of Ai. She was a sensational idol and had many fans who went into “fangirling mode” over her. Aqua and Ruby were her children, and she had to keep them hidden because if they were exposed, it could have had a significant effect on her career.
Aqua is shown to be a good actor and knows how to manipulate people to get things done his way. In his previous life, he was a doctor and was a fan of Ai. He retains the memory of his past life. He is proficient in acting and editing videos. Aqua supports his sister in every way possible so that she can maintain her childlike personality and become an idol like their mother.
Ruby is extroverted and more optimistic compared to Aqua. She wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become an exceptionally famous idol. Ruby prefers to move on from the trauma of losing their mother rather than reminiscing and seeking revenge. She has the talent to become an idol, just not so much in singing. By the end of the serialization, we see she has achieved her dream.
5) Maki Zenin and Mai Zenin (Jujutsu Kaisen)
They are twins and from the Zenin clan. Mai is the younger twin who can see curses and use cursed techniques, whereas Maki lacks them but is incredibly strong. Both of them, as kids, were very close, but the Zenin family’s reputation for discrimination created a gap between the sisters.
Maki is the older one. To make up for her inability to use cursed techniques, she is physically strong. During the Goodwill Event, when she won against her sister, they tried to have a heartfelt conversation.
Mai was the one who had a cursed technique and was forced to become a sorcerer. She did not want to, but who was going to argue with the Zenin Clan? She always thought that Maki had broken their promise to always be together and left her. Although she acknowledged her sister’s strength, Mai never said it out loud. It was when their father attacked Maki that she swooped in and saved her sister by giving her life.
6) Hiei and Yukina (Yuyu Hakusho)
They have a sad backstory. Born as twins, Hiei was taken from their mother because they thought he was cursed. This led their mother to take her own life. Later on, when Yukina finds out that her brother is alive, she goes on a quest to look for him.
Yukina is very polite and seems naive in some instances. She is determined to find her brother. She is the warm and caring type.
Hiei is different. He prefers to maintain distance from people and is seen making fun of humans, their attributes of friendship, and their view on life.
There has been a lot of confusion about whether they are twins or half-siblings.
7) Killua Zoldyck and Alluka Zoldyck (Hunter x Hunter)
Born into the Zoldyck family, Killua and Alluka are the only siblings who get along well. Both of them were trained to be assassins from a very young age. They have a very sweet bond, and Killua knows everything about Alluka and how her power works, whereas no one else knows it properly.
Killua comes across as a cheerful character in the series, but compared to Gon, he could seem rude. He has a close relationship with Alluka and always tries to spend time with her. He knows how to utilize her powers in ways that no one else does.
Alluka is equally attached to him and addresses him as “Older Brother.” While everyone else in the family thought she was incapable of showing emotions, she was seen to be affectionate and happy when Killua spent time with her. With him, she can act like a child. She asks Killua if he should be equally good with her and Nanika (the mysterious ability), to which he complies.
8) Rin Okumura and Yukio Okumura (Blue Exorcist)
They are fraternal twins. They lost their parents at a young age and became very protective of each other. Even though they could not admit it to each other, they did their best to safeguard what remained of their family. The brothers had their unique way of showing care for each other, which led to miscommunication and gaps in their relationship.
Rin is the older brother. He blames himself for the death of his father. He believes that if he works hard enough, he can protect and surpass his brother. Because of his carefree attitude, most of the time, people around him do not take him seriously. He does not look like it, but among the brothers, Rin is emotionally fragile, and if anything happens to Yukio, he cannot remain level-headed.
Yukio is the younger brother who comes off as distant and strict, especially toward Rin. He does not want to lose any more of his family. He is never lenient towards his brother and has self-destructive qualities, which were resolved after the brothers had an honest conversation.
9) Kaoru Hitachiin And Hikaru Hitachiin (Ouran Highschool Host Club)
Host club members from Ouran High School, these twin brothers play an important role in the club, where they portray “forbidden brother love” to attract women. They were among the first to figure out that Haruhi was a girl. They are also among the funniest anime siblings in this series.
It is very difficult to pinpoint which brother is which. Only Haruhi can always recognize who is who during the game they play called “Which One Is Hikaru?” Because of this, they end up developing romantic feelings for her.
Hikaru is the older twin and is seen as the troublemaker in the sense that he is very dependent on his younger brother. He is weirdly possessive of Haruhi, as he is unable to distinguish between his romantic feelings and his care for her.
Kaoru is the younger twin and is shown to be more observant. He understands that they have an unhealthy, codependent relationship and that they need to find their individuality.
10) Ryūichi Kashima and Kotaro Kashima (Gakuken Babysitter)
After losing their parents in a plane crash, the brothers are taken in by the chairwoman of Morinomiya Academy, who had also lost her family in the same crash. She offers to provide for them if Kashima joins the babysitter club.
Ryūichi Kashima is a diligent student and a member of the club. He cares deeply about his brother. Every child in the club adores him. Because he is good with children and treats them with kindness, he gains instant popularity among girls. He makes sure he fulfills his responsibilities properly.
His younger brother, Kotaro Kashima, is a quiet child, often seen to be possessive of his brother. He does not pick fights and always looks a little sleepy. When his brother was unwell, he helped the chairwoman squeeze lemons so she could make honey lemon tea for him and made sure to do his best. In short, he is a super adorable child.
