Here are some thoughts about the major weapon, map and legends changes in Apex Legends Season 27 that might change the meta.

The new Apex Legends Season 27 changes bring in a mantle boost for players and lots of weapon and legend balancing. With more focus on legends like Rampart, Horizon and Valkyrie, the highlight of the patch is the implementation of a once complex movement mechanic, the mantle boost. Here’s a quick rundown of all the major changes for the weapons, map and legends in Apex Legends Season 27.
Apex Legends Season 27 Weapon Changes

LMGs
There have been significant changes to how LMGs work, as the patch has removed the Reverse Hipfire for all LMGs except the L-Star. This solves the Devotion meta that had been hurting players over the past three seasons. However, they have reduced the hip fire spread to balance it out as well.
Marksman
Marksman weapons have been significantly nerfed, mainly owing to the Wingman abuse for the past three seasons. They have reduced the projectile size and scaling, as well as headshot multipliers. The damage that used to be almost instant during the past seasons with marksman has been significantly nerfed in damage and speed. The Skull Piercer is also out of every marksman weapon, reducing significant headshot damage.
They also added a 2x-4x scope to the Bocex bow as well. With the Triple takeout of the care package, it also received minor nerfs, possibly to balance it out as floor loot.
Shotgun
The highlight of this weapon patch might be the Peacekeeper nerf. The gun was overpowered in every sense. From the damage to its range and its choke time, the gun was a solid pickup for any game of Apex. However, this patch has reduced its damage and increased its choke time by a lot.
Another significant change that might prove too strong in this patch might be the addition of the Graffiti mod for the Mozambique. The double pistols already wrecked armor previously, and now, with the new mod might be a bit too overpowered.
SMG
With the new Alternator hop-up, SMGs should come back to being used more for close-range battles. The Double Tap hop-up lets you fire two alternator shots at once. This will deal high damage, but requires more accuracy in aim as well. However, each bullet damage is reduced to 15, and the firing rate is also reduced while it is equipped.
Another new hop up is the Galvanic Gavel for the new Care Package weapon, C.A.R. The hop up lets you swap between Hammerpoint and Disruptor rounds, instead of the previous light and heavy ammo.
Other minor changes include a slightly changed burst mechanic for the Prowler and the Volt SMG having an increased projectile size in close quarters.
Snipers
The only change for Snipers in this patch is their reduced projectile range, plus a few nerfs for the Charge rifle. Charge rifle’s maximum damage has been reduced to 99 (from 110).
Pistols
The P2020 is on the Care Package and has naturally received more buffs for it. It has more fire rate and increased magazine size (from 22 to 26).
Apex Legends Season 27 Changes for Maps

Olympus has changed a lot from the previous patch. The choke points and elevation issues in some areas seem to have been overhauled. More covers between choke points and elevated terrain seems to be positively received by the community. The entire map seems to have been hit with some kind of change, and while everything cannot be noted down, it seems that the developers have listened to the community about Olympus changes that were wanted since the previous seasons.
The Wild Card event, introduced a few seasons ago has also been confirmed to be a permanent mode. In addition, they have added a few extra wild things in there:
- Extra Ordnance
- Smoke Out
- Drone Support
- High Velocity
- Status Report
- Speedy Charge
- Recharger
- Fast Draw
- Monstrous Strength
The Wild Card event is a short-duration match where players can focus more on battles and less on looting. They also have self revives till round 5, and the ring is smaller for more battles.
Apex Legends Season 27 Changes for Legends

Valkyrie
Valkyrie has obtained major buffs in her kit, as she had been largely ignored for the previous patches, with better legends like Sparrow and Vantage. Her flying time has been increased a lot, and her tactics can also be used while skydiving. Her armor upgrades have also been buffed, with Eyes in the Sky now in level 2 and the reworked Aerial Expert, giving her even more air time.
Rampart
Rampart’s walls have been buffed this season, with a new recharge feature and even adding another layer of protection. A roof now covers Rampart and her teammates from elevation, and dealing damage through the walls also recharges them for a new mechanic. After the walls are charged, Rampart and her team can jump through them for a 15-second speed boost, which is quite a lot in a game like Apex. Her walls also scale with her armor level as well, with level 3 requiring almost two magazines of SMGs and Rifles.
However, all of these buffs come with a balance. Her walls HP have been reduced to 100 initially, and take more damage from grenades.
Horizon
Horizon’s main changes in the Apex Legends Season 27 patch might be her air strafing with the tactical. Now longer duration and the ability to glide from her tactical (armor upgrade), Horizon could be really good during building invades and repositioning to the high ground. Her ultimate also has decreased cooldown and more HP. The black hole will resist longer during fights.
An interesting new upgrade called the Newt Scoot for Horizon also adds new air to the legend. The upgrade lets you dive in while pressing crouch during air time, instantly landing at high velocity on the ground.
Revenant
Revenant has been hit with a reduced possible velocity during his Shadow Pounce. When tried in-game, it seems like a minor nerf to a legend that sees himself in almost every squad from Diamond to Apex Predator lobbies.
