While Apple is behind the race regarding AI innovation, it looks like a new LLM-powered Siri is coming soon—check out the details here!

Finally, Apple seems to be getting serious about innovating in AI! The latest news from Bloomberg has given us a lot of info about Apple’s upcoming plans for integrating AI across its ecosystem of products.
Siri has been the mobile assistant available on all of Apple’s major products, such as iPhone, MacBook, iPad, and more. While AI capabilities are available on all phones (via apps), integrating proper AI into the core assistant is not something Apple has truly achieved yet. On the other hand, Copilot is available on Windows, and Gemini is out for most Android phones.
Apple Has Been Behind in AI Innovation

Developing better Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been a major focus for many tech companies in the last few years. However, it seemed like Apple wasn’t participating in the race to release new AI-based technologies.
Usually, Apple is one of the companies that isn’t necessarily the first mover in a product category (there have been phones before the iPhone), but they tend to carry out activities with utmost precision. Despite this, it is hard to deny how far behind Apple is compared to its competitors when it comes to artificial intelligence.
How Apple Is Building Siri From Scratch

The company did announce its Apple Intelligence. However, very basic features are available at the moment—writing and image editing tools, along with the Genmoji feature. Now, the latest report suggests Apple is rebuilding Siri entirely, now being powered by a Large Language Model (LLM) – so they can make it an AI that can understand humans much better and bring Siri up to speed with other AI assistants.
Reportedly, an Apple employee speaking to Mark Gurman for Bloomberg stated the new Siri would be “more believably conversational and better at synthesizing information”. It is expected the new Siri will also feature information-gathering capabilities from external sources. Hopefully, the new assistant overhaul will be released soon, because Apple is already pretty late to the party!
The new LLM-powered Siri is expected to be competent, and it is hard not to feel excited. Apple’s integration and how its ecosystem works is truly magical. On top of that, the sprinkle of AI is going to be truly game changing for sure!
