Apple plans to redesign the tvOS and watchOS with a modern translucent UI, which is said to be inspired by VisionOS.

iOS 19’s redesigned UI may be the talk of the town, but apparently, it is not the only operating system that Apple is working to redesign. The tvOS and watchOS will both reportedly receive a redesigned UI visually inspired by VisionOS. While the watchOS is fine, tvOS desperately needs an updated UI to deliver a coherent experience with other Apple products.
Apple is expected to reveal the new design at Apple’s WWDC 25 event, which is just two weeks away. However, that won’t stop leaks from coming in, and a new report has revealed some interesting details about the upcoming versions of tvOS and watchOS. In this article, we analyze these reports and explain everything you need to know.

tvOS and watchOS Will Receive a Modern Translucent-Type UI

One of the key aspects of Apple devices is coherency and a connected experience. Apple wants all its devices to have the same look and feel to ensure customers get the same great experience, irrespective of what Apple device they use. Therefore, it seems almost all the Apple operating systems are getting a redesigned UI this time around.
iOS 19 has already been leaked multiple times, showing a new VisionOS-inspired UI with translucent elements. Additionally, tvOS and watchOS are reportedly getting a similar treatment. At least, that’s what Bloomberg’s analyst Mark Gurman believes. He has a great track record of delivering accurate reports of Apple devices, so there’s little reason to doubt this.
Gurman revealed that tvOS and watchOS will receive design elements from VisionOS, like glass-like translucency effects, new icons, and more. These design elements will be applied to every part of the operating system for both tvOS and watchOS. Also, the latter went through quite a few design iterations, so the new UI may not be that dramatic, but it will be for the former. Gurman says the new design will be showcased at the upcoming WWDC 2025 event.
When Will the New tvOS and watchOS Versions Release?

Apple has a history of releasing big operating system updates during September, and there’s no indication to believe otherwise. Therefore, you shouldn’t expect the upcoming tvOS and watchOS updates before September 2025. However, Apple also releases beta builds after their showcases at WWDC 2025. If you can’t wait for the final release in September 2025, then look out for their beta builds.
