JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is a grand saga following the battle of good and evil. Centering around the Joestar family, the series has introduced a variety of quirky characters, most of whom have awe-inspiring powers. Whether this be through impressive physical capability or overpowered Stands, these characters have left an indelible mark in the series.
Here are the 10 strongest JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure characters, ranked. Many of them have reality-bending powers and extremely destructive abilities. However, since most are not within the confines of one part, we will be considering their feats in the series, the nature of their ability, and their impact on the story.
10) Weather Report
Weather Report is a beloved character from Stone Ocean, known for his strength and bond with Jolyne Kujo. His Stand shares the same name as him, and as it indicates, can control the weather.
This is an incredibly versatile ability that can manipulate the atmosphere, trap air, and also cause frogs to rain down. Through his Stand’s Heavy Weather ability, Weather Report can alter the sun’s rays and make targets perceive themselves as snails.
With his ability, he came frighteningly close to defeating Enrico Pucci. Unfortunately, due to outside interference, he couldn’t finish the job and ended up losing his own life.
9) Kars
Kars is the only entrant in this list who doesn’t have a Stand. This speaks volumes of his powers, as he is the ultimate life form. As the leader of the Pillar Men in Battle Tendency, he was the original designer of the Stone Mask.
In his base form, Kars can freely manipulate his body, creating light strong enough to distract and destroy targets. After his evolution into the Ultimate Thing, Kars is immortal and near-invincible. He can manipulate every cell of his body, creating wings and even surviving magma. His senses have been honed to the extreme, and he can also use the powerful Ripple.
Due to this, fans wondered how he would ever be defeated. Nevertheless, Joseph used his wits to knock the antagonist into space. Even then, he nearly survived, showing what a fearsome presence he is in the series.
8) Dio Brando and Jotaro Kujo
Both Dio Brando and Jotaro Kujo have been placed together because it is difficult to find who is stronger. They both share similar abilities, while Dio’s ruthlessness often combats against Jotaro’s intellect. Hence, even despite Jotaro’s group already winning against Dio, a head-to-head battle would be a different case.
Dio Brando’s Stand is called The World. It allows him to stop time for 9 seconds, possibly going higher if Dio hadn’t died. His long years of existence, drive for victory and resilience make him the most memorable antagonist in the series.
Jotaro, on the other hand, uses Star Platinum, a Stand similar to The World. This lets him stop time for 5 seconds, acting in direct contrast to Dio. Despite only figuring out this ability late in the series, Jotaro’s high intelligence lets him put it to use perfectly. Hence, both these fan-favorites are considered among the strongest JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure characters.
7) Diavolo
Diavolo is the main antagonist of Golden Wind, who kept his identity hidden for a long time. His Stand, King Crimson, lets him erase time for 10 seconds and even see what happens in the future.
Due to this and his careful nature, Diavolo is hardly ever taken by surprise in battle. Additionally, his possession of a split personality – Doppio, lets him trick others. Unfortunately, despite causing a lot of damage in the series, he was severely outmatched when faced against Giorno’s Stand.
6) Funny Valentine
Funny Valentine is the President of the United States in Steel Ball Run as well as the main villain of this part. He is an immensely ambitious and patriotic man who would go to any lengths to strengthen his country.
For this sake, Funny Valentine himself is a very powerful character. His Stand, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (D4C) allows him to travel between dimensions, coming across alternate bodies. If desired, he can also pass on his Stand to his other selves and make them take his place, making him near-immortal.
Additionally, his Stand gains an extension called D4C Love Train. This lets him redirect misfortune away from him. As a result, Valentine was an antagonist strong enough to kill Gyro. However, due to Johnny’s sudden enlightenment, he ended up losing.
5) Johnny Joestar
As the protagonist of Steel Ball Run, Johnny Joestar is initially a powerless and depressed man. However, after getting entranced by Gyro’s steel balls and joining the race, he rapidly gains strength. Over the course of the series, Johnny becomes a Spin and Stand user.
Johnny’s Stand, Tusk, is split up into separate Acts. The first 3 Acts allow him to shoot his nails destructively while inculcating Spin into them. He is also able to use spatial wormholes to shoot nails from different directions.
Johnny’s strongest ability, however, is Tusk Act 4. In his battle against Valentine, he figured out how to use Golden Spin on his ability due to Gyro’s help. With this, he could fire nail bullets that would infinitely spin. This also let him chase the antagonist down through different dimensions and defeat him for good.
4) Enrico Pucci
Pucci is a follower of Dio who wished to reach Heaven after getting inspired by the old villain. This made him directly oppose Jolyne and Jotaro in Stone Ocean, unveiling his fearsome abilities. Pucci possesses three Stands in the series, all of which are very useful.
His first Stand, Whitesnake, lets him steal discs from individuals, containing their memories and Stand abilities. With the help of Dio’s bone, Pucci developed his second Stand, C-MOON. This could manipulate gravity and destroy anything within range.
Pucci’s most powerful ability is his final Stand, Made in Heaven. Using this, he can accelerate the speed of the entire universe, causing several alternate realities to be made. With his abilities, Pucci nearly killed the entire cast, including Jolyne and Jotaro. However, at the grasp of victory, Emporio, armed with Weather Report’s power, took him by surprise. Due to this, the powerful villain ended up losing.
3) Toru
Toru is the terrifying antagonist of JoJolion and one of the more underrated additions to the series. This doesn’t comment on his abilities, however, as he possesses an extremely broken Stand.
As a Rock Human, Toru’s Stand is called Wonder of U. This skill controls fate itself, inflicting calamities on anyone who tries pursuing it or its user. It does not require activation and triggers automatically.
This complex Stand is extremely difficult to counter because it is unlike anything else in the series. While he is eventually defeated by Josuke’s Stand, many fans still believe the only reason he lost was because of the plot.
2) Josuke Higashikata
Defeating Toru took powers even more unnatural than his, and Josuke possessed these abilities. Not to be confused with Part 4’s Josuke, Josuke “Gappy” Higashikata is the protagonist of JoJolion.
Having inherited his Stand from Josefumi, Soft & Wet is a deceptive ability that is much stronger than it seems. This Stand has the skill of plundering, where it can steal the properties of targets and store them in bubbles. After imbuing Spin into his ability, however, Josuke unlocks another level called Go Beyond.
This lets him create invisible bubbles that do not exist in this world and can defy fate itself. Resultantly, it could get past Wonder of U, and leave explosive damage on the antagonist. This helped solidify him as one of the strongest in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.
1) Giorno Giovanna
It might not come as a surprise to many that the strongest JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure character is Giorno Giovanna. As the illegitimate son of Dio and the protagonist of Golden Wind, this character’s ability is by far the most broken in the series.
Giorno’s Stand, Golden Experience, is a versatile ability that allows him to manipulate life itself. He could produce flora and fauna right at the beginning of the series. With the help of the arrow, this evolves into Golden Experience Requiem. This is a Stand that works unconsciously, turning enemies’ actions into zero.
Hence, all attacks aimed at Giorno are nullified, while those killed by him are affected by “zero”. Due to this, enemies never find the truth behind their deaths and are stuck in a loop for eternity. Golden Experience Requiem could easily overpower the powerful Diavolo and King Crimson, propping Giorno up to become the leader of Passione.
