One Piece has stunned fans for several years with its vast setting featuring unique places that stick in our minds. Lauded for its expansive world-building, no island in the series is similar to others while always captivating viewers.

This feeling of fascination can be both positive and negative. Some islands are so beautiful that we start wishing they were real to live in. Others are grim places we wouldn’t wish upon our worst enemies. Let us take a look at both kinds of islands in One Piece.

4 One Piece Islands Everyone Wants To Live In

Through the adventures of the Straw Hats, we have come across several islands that are beautiful and feel otherworldly. While a few of these might have been in trouble before the intervention of Luffy and his crew, they have gone on to become places everyone wishes to inhabit. 4 One Piece islands everyone wishes were real and wants to live in are:

1) Totto Land

Governed by the Big Mom Pirates, Totto Land is a dreamlike place in One Piece. Contrary to the fearsome presence of Big Mom herself, Totto Land is a wondrous archipelago with several islands based on desserts and sweets. Ranging from cakes, biscuits, and cheese, the delicacies present are those that we have wished to visit since being kids.

While Big Mom’s governance is ironclad, Totto Land still doesn’t seem oppressed like most other Emperor and Warlord-ruled islands. It is vibrant, protected, and houses almost every species in the world. This could occupy both adventurers and those who wish to live in peace.

2) Fish-Man Island

The house of the merfolk, Fish-Man Island, is an underwater paradise that has great culture, structures, and communities. The class barrier still exists since it is the most similar to real human society, but fraternizing with one another is allowed.

Due to their tensions with humans, there were Fish-Men who had discriminatory views towards the other species. However, after their interaction with the Straw Hats, the King and Princess began actively promoting mutual harmony. Delicious seafood, picturesque locations, and a sense of detachment from the drama above ground make this an ideal place to live.

3) Skypiea

Skypiea is a mysterious island above the clouds with lush forests, kind citizens, and angelic beauty. It has gone on to have its own currency, culture, and language while having advanced yet enigmatic technology.

Under Enel’s rule, most Skypieans lived in fear of his might, power, and vanity. After the Straw Hats freed them, they went back to their roots and enchanting atmosphere. Skypiea represents peace and freedom, enticing dreamers and explorers to settle in its celestial beauty.

4) Egghead

As the most recently completed storyline of One Piece, the Egghead Arc took us to the futuristic island of Egghead, run by Dr. Vegapunk. Naturally a winter island, Vegapunk’s technology gives it the feel of a tropical rainforest and helps in more comfortable conditions.

Egghead earns its title as Future Island through the sheer marvel of its innovations. It has towering structures, robotic inventions, a self-sufficient ecosystem, and advanced holograms projecting real and imaginary objects. There is a sustainable transportation system, automatic food machines, and police to handle criminals. While being under the World Government might be the only holdback of the island, its cutting-edge charm and groundbreaking developments are more than enough to offset the balance.

4 One Piece Islands No One Wants to Visit

One Piece is so beloved not just because of the variety of islands that are aesthetically pleasing but also the other extreme. There is no shortage of islands in the series that seem like terrible places to live in, either because of their environment, their rulers, or both. These undoubtedly add flavour to the story, but we would prefer to just read about it rather than actually visit.

1) Punk Hazard

An island with Hazard in its name definitely does not give off the best signs for visitors. Staying true to this, Punk Hazard is a dangerous location used for brutal experiments. Due to an intense battle between Aokiji and Akainu, the island is a wasteland affected by opposing climates.

One side of Punk Hazard is engulfed in scorching Magma and unbearable fires due to Akainu’s Magu Magu no Mi. The other half is full of freezing temperatures and icebergs that have trapped ships. This was caused by Aokiji’s Hie Hie no Mi. Making things worse, Caesar Clown’s deadly experiments have caused the place to be filled with poison gas, making it unlivable for humans.

2) Mary Geoise

The capital of the World Government, Mary Geoise, seems remarkable at first with detailed architecture and impressive street layouts. Unfortunately, unless you’re royalty or a Celestial Dragon, no one gets to enjoy these benefits.

Mary Geoise is a place of unashamedly open discrimination. Outsiders and other species are enslaved and forced to live under inhumane conditions. Even visiting delegates are pushed into its oppressive laws and rigid hierarchy. As the center of the main forces of corruption in One Piece, it represents every single negative aspect shown in the series.

3) Thriller Bark

Thriller Bark is essentially a haunted house where your life is genuinely at stake. It is filled with ghosts, zombies, and all kinds of creatures that come from our worst fears. The island has an eerie atmosphere and never-ending darkness.

Borrowing many themes from gothic fiction, Thriller Bark is definitely one of the most distinctive places in One Piece, but it was not made for the purpose of beauty. Even after Gecko Moria’s defeat, the sinister nature of the island has not changed, while it houses hundreds of corpses littered across the area.

4) Germa Kingdom

Under the rule of Sanji’s family – the Vinsmokes, the Germa Kingdom is known as the Kingdom of Science and is infamous in the series. Despite chasing after futuristic technology, Germa only does this for the sake of power.

It is dedicated to military conquests, genetic superiority, and building soldiers who emotionlessly serve it. With a harsh culture without individuality, cruelty, and the manipulative Vinsmoke family, this is not a place fans wish to visit anytime soon.

Conclusion

To conclude, the islands of One Piece are just as diverse as its characters. These go from breathtaking paradises to horrifying nightmares. Regardless of those that every fan wishes to visit and others that they should stay away from, all these islands significantly enhance the impact of the series.
