Discover the five best Star Wars games you must play! Dive into epic adventures and explore the galaxy far, far away with our top picks.

Star Wars video games have existed nearly as long as the widely acclaimed Star Wars series of films. They have given players the chance to actively visit the galaxy far, far away for many decades. Some developers have attempted to recreate the stories depicted in the films. Others have crafted entirely new stories set somewhere in the canon of the Skywalker Saga.
There are many games to choose from when it comes to this franchise, but we have curated a list of what we believe are the five best Star Wars video games that you should play.
1. Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic may have been released two decades ago, but it is still considered the best Star Wars game ever made, and rightly so. Developer BioWare created an RPG where players determine the course of the game thousands of years prior to the creation of the Galactic Empire.
Like any great RPG, KOTOR lets players customize their character’s looks, alignment, and abilities. Knights of the Old Republic also has a great cast of characters to help the player character, including the poster boy of the Republic, Carth Onasi; the scoundrel Mission Vao and her Wookiee companion, Zaalbar; and the darkly humorous murder robot HK-47.
Relationships formed on the ship the player uses (the Ebon Hawk) could also affect the fate of the galaxy. A full remake of this beloved game is reportedly still in development.
2. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Respawn built a great foundation with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and took it to new heights with their sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The game begins five years after Cal Kestis became a Knight, focusing on his attempts to master the Force and avoid the Empire’s influence.
Jedi: Survivor incorporates the Soulslike gameplay from the first entry but has more fluid combat mechanisms. Players spend less time on slow and defensive methods. The developers also improved the battles while providing powerful abilities far sooner than the original. With better visuals and smoother builds, Survivor maintained the upward path for Star Wars games in the 2020s while still delivering an engaging and cinematic tale.
3. Star Wars Battlefront 2

Arguably the best multiplayer experience in Star Wars, Battlefront 2 is a third-person shooter. It was released shortly after Halo ushered in online gaming for console players by allowing large-scale ground warfare.
The 2005 version of Star Wars Battlefront 2 did well because it gave players the feeling of being a part of the greater war machine. They had the choice to play as either the Resistance or the Empire forces on some of Star Wars’ iconic battlegrounds.
With game modes like Capture the Flag and Conquest and limitless potential for fights in space, it was the complete package. The single-player mode offered a more expansive story mode compared to the prequel.
4. Star Wars: Republic Commando

Star Wars: Republic Commando came out just as Rainbow Six was dominating tactical FPS, and it immediately became clear that Tom Clancy did not own the genre. Republic Commando sets aside the age-old battle of the Jedi versus the Sith. Instead, it puts you in control of an elite squad of Clone Troopers tasked with operating behind enemy lines during the Clone Wars.
Republic Commando provides a fascinating perspective on the Clone Wars while transforming the way fans think about the Star Wars clones forever. This was the first story that showed that they were individuals rather than nearly faceless, mechanized drones. A remastered port of the game arrived for PS4 and Switch in 2021, making it easier than ever to experience one of the best Xbox games of its time.
5. Star Wars Jedi Knight 2 – Jedi Outcast

Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast is a first- and third-person action game developed by Raven Software. It was known as the “gold standard” for Star Wars Jedi games for many years after its release. Kyle Katarn, the protagonist from Star Wars: Dark Forces, features in this title.
The game is the third entry in the Jedi Knight series after the Dark Forces duology inspired by Wolfenstein. Kyle Katarn is an ex-Jedi turned mercenary, proficient with every weapon available to him. As a result, we get to see what it would be like to fight against the Empire solo. Jedi Outcast has a wonderful single-player campaign and tight multiplayer arenas to host some fun encounters.
