With the PlayStation State of Play: September 2024 right around the corner, we will be covering five games that PS fans would love to see featured.
PlayStation has announced their next State of Play. The September 2024 State of Play will be aired on September 24, 2024, at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET and September 25 at 12 AM CEST / 7 AM JST. PlayStation’s official channels on YouTube and Twitch will stream the show, which will last over half an hour. The showcase will feature the latest news and updates on more than 20 upcoming game titles for PS5 and PS VR2.
PlayStation recently announced the PS5 Pro, and the State of Play announcement has added to the community’s hype. In this article, we will cover five games that fans are expecting to see during the showcase.
1) Marvel’s Wolverine
Marvel’s Wolverine, developed by Insomniac Games, the studio behind the Spider-Man video game franchise, is first on our list. The game is currently in development for PlayStation 5. Insomniac Games announced the project alongside Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 during the PlayStation Showcase event in September 2021, three years ago.
In December 2023, a ransomware attack on Insomniac Games led to the leak of a fully playable Wolverine PC build, indicating a possible release in 2025 or 2026. The leak also revealed that Insomniac Games is currently developing Venom. Hence, it is likely that Insomniac Games will announce updates on Wolverine or Venom during the September State of Play event.
2) Days Gone Remastered
The next title rumored to appear in September’s State of Play is Days Gone. Fans have long wished for this underrated title to get a sequel. While it remains uncertain whether Days Gone will ever get a sequel, speculation points to a remastered version of the original releasing for PlayStation 5 soon.
Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, on an episode of Game Mess Mornings, mentioned that the remastered version of the game could be arriving soon, so fans are hoping to get an update on it during the State of Play event. Developed by Bend Studio, Days Gone was released for the PS4 in April 2019.
3) Ghost of Tsushima 2
Ahead of the September 2024 State of Play, the sequel to Sucker Punch Productions’s huge hit Ghost of Tsushima is on everyone’s lips. Reliable insiders such as Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb and Jason Schreier suggested that Sucker Punch Productions could be developing Ghost of Tsushima 2. It may even launch by 2025. The recent launch of Ghost of Tsushima for PC has fueled the rumors further.
4) Resident Evil 9
Industry insider Lunatic Ignus suggests that Capcom is likely to announce Resident Evil 9, the next installment in the renowned horror series, soon. Reports also indicate that Resident Evil 9 may feature in the Tokyo Game Show 2024.
Thus, there is a good chance that Resident Evil 9 may be featured in the State of Play event. Resident Evil Village, the franchise’s last main installment and sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, released in 2021.
5) Death Stranding 2
The State of Play event will likely showcase Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, the direct sequel to Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding. The game was officially announced in 2022, followed by a trailer reveal in February 2024 during the last State of Play. We may get to see a new update or stage presentation that reveals the game’s release date or a teaser.
In addition to these major titles, here are a few other games that gamers would like to see featured in the September 2024 State of Play event:
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (DLC)
