When it comes to the strongest female My Hero Academia characters, there are so many options in this series. Here are the candidates.
In a world where eighty percent of humanity is gifted with powers called quirks, quirk users reign supreme. The whole story of My Hero Academia revolves around Izuku Midoriya, who also calls himself by his hero name, Deku. His action-packed adventure at U.A. High School for Superheroes leads him to meet many strong future heroes, some stronger than others.
Being a shonen anime targeted at a young male audience doesn’t mean My Hero Academia overlooks its female characters. The series has a good roster of strong female heroes and villains, each with their own personality and compelling backstory. It’s not rare for this series to showcase how powerful they are.
The power system in the My Hero Academia universe offers quirky and unexpected powers. Incidentally, it also applies to these female characters. Here is the list of the strongest female My Hero Academia characters.
7) Momo Yaoyorozu
Momo Yaoyorozu’s quirk, Creation, allows her to conjure inanimate objects from the surface of her skin. This ability consumes her fat cells, which is why she has to maintain a good intake of calories. Otherwise, overexerting herself can make her anemic.
However, the strength of her power lies in her creativity and imagination. Her quirk allows for incredible versatility in combat and non-combat situations. Momo can make just about anything, from a blanket to a railgun.
On top of that, Momo is a U.A. High School student by recommendation. However, she faces an internal struggle after her loss at the school sports festival. Drowned in her internal thoughts, she starts doubting herself in situations where quick thinking is needed the most. Momo’s journey in My Hero Academia is a theme of overcoming this insecurity and acknowledging her own strength.
6) Thirteen
What if a person could wipe out whatever is in front of them within a blink of an eye? This is what Anan Kurose, also known as Thirteen, can do. Her quirk, Black Hole, allows her to mimic the effect of a black hole, sucking everything into her hands and then disintegrating it.
The Black Hole quirk is an extremely volatile ability that leaves everything caught in its range with little chance of surviving. Thirteen’s personality is the complete opposite of her quirk. She is a cautious person, preferring to assess a situation before acting on it.
As a faculty member of U.A. High School, Thirteen is well-versed in how the Pro Hero world works. She is passionate about quirks that can be used for creation and assistance rather than destruction. Considering the power of her quirk, it’s a relief that she isn’t a villain.
5) Mirko
When someone wants to be a strong Pro Hero in My Hero Academia, it’s almost the norm that people will direct them to U.A. High School. It’s a reputable institution for aspiring heroes, with many of its alumni reaching success, even breaking into Japan’s top 10 hero rankings. However, Mirko, or Rumi Usagiyama, is an exception.
In her youth, she never got into U.A. High School. She preferred to run around wreaking havoc among fight clubs and earned the nickname “bunny-eared Usako.” On top of that, she got herself expelled from her hero school because of this habit.
Despite her juvenile crime record, Mirko made it into the top 10 Pro Heroes in Japan as the fifth hero. Her quirk gives her the abilities of a rabbit. It might sound unassuming, but combined with Mirko’s physical strength, quick thinking, and relentless spirit, the Rabbit quirk is just the right quirk for her. With this quirk, she is a powerhouse in close combat.
4) Lady Nagant
A Pro Hero turned villain, Lady Nagant, or Kaina Tsutsumi, is a former Pro Hero who later falls into a life of revenge. As a Pro Hero, she questioned the Hero Public Safety Commission’s policies on treating heroes as expendable resources. The president of HPSC didn’t share her vision at all, deeming the death of heroes a necessary sacrifice. However, when the president resorted to drastic measures to crush her disobedience, Lady Nagant had to kill him to survive.
As a hero, Lady Nagant is a threat to whoever dares to harm society. However, this also means she is not someone to brush off when she goes after the HPSC. Her Rifle quirk allows her to shoot a target from a distance, making her an ideal assassin in My Hero Academia.
She does this with the protruding gun residing in her elbow. Lady Nagant’s bullets come from her moldable hair, which means she is never unarmed. The only weakness is that her weapons are made from her body parts. If she kills someone, there’s no denying it since her bullet is strong proof of her identity.
3) Nana Shimura
Heroic, kind, and with a strong sense of justice, Nana Shimura is the ideal type of Pro Hero in My Hero Academia. She is the seventh user of the One for All quirk, the same quirk Deku has. The main trait of this quirk is that it grows stronger as it’s passed down.
The new user can use any other quirk that the previous user had. On top of that, this quirk can only be transferred if the user wants to, making it invulnerable to All For One’s ability to take quirks away.
Additionally, Nana Shimura is an expert in her original quirk, Float. It allows her to fly around freely, making the sky her second home. She is so adept at this quirk that she could compete against Gran Torino, the fastest hero of his time.
2) Cathleen Bate
Standing at 6’4”, anyone can guess she is powerful just by looking at her. And they’d be right. Cathleen Bate, also known as Star and Stripe, is an American Hero once dubbed the strongest woman around by All For One.
Even by sheer physicality alone, she would be among the most athletic people in My Hero Academia. Her quirk, New Order, pushes the extent of her strength further with only imagination as the limit.
New Order allows Cathleen to set rules and impose them on anything she touches. This quirk gives her an almost omnipotent strength that can manipulate just about anything and anyone within her reach. However, this quirk limits her to two rules only.
1) Eri
Don’t let her appearance and reserved personality deceive you. Eri might look small, without virtually any intimidating aura. However, her quirk is easily one of the most dangerous quirks in the series.
Eri possesses the power to reverse any living body to its previous state, dubbed Rewind in the series. Be it a severe injury or just a flesh wound, it will heal completely if Eri touches it.
However, her only weakness is her inexperience with her own quirk. Eri manifested her power way back in her childhood. Tragically, the event resulted in the death of her father. She accidentally Rewinded her father back to nonexistence. Although her quirk can be immensely powerful, it can potentially backfire if she doesn’t keep a close eye on it.
Conclusion
My Hero Academia revolves around the relationship between a person and their power. The power system is not only a showcase of what a character can do but also their internal struggles and story.
The female characters throughout this series embody exactly that. While all of them are powerful, they face their own adversities and strive to overcome them. This theme is especially noticeable among the strongest female My Hero Academia characters.
