The Demon Slayer series has plenty of interesting story arcs. Although the plot is rather simple if we break it down, the characters make the series incredibly entertaining. Characters are mostly consistent in two different story arcs.

However, The character interactions are influenced by other elements in the story. Some story arcs stand out more than others. The Entertainment District arc stands out among others in the anime.

The Entertainment District arc is arguably one of the funniest arcs in the series. One of the biggest reasons is the Sound Hashira’s involvement in the anime. Furthermore, his charismatic personality added to the overall entertainment value. Fans also love the Sound Hashira’s character design in the anime. However, these aren’t the only things that influenced the success of the Entertainment District arc.

Humor in Demon Slayer Entertainment District Arc

As mentioned earlier, humor is one of the most important factors that made the Entertainment District arc exceptional. The anime series is set in a world where death and suffering are constant. There is almost no light-hearted scenario in the series.

The only time we experience something like this is when characters like Inosuke and Zenitsu appear on screen. They are the comedic relief. Furthermore, the characters associated with humor aren’t particularly among the strongest.

Undoubtedly, the likes of Zenitsu and Inosuke are exceptionally strong. They have played a vital role in defeating powerful demons during the course of the series. However, they certainly aren’t among the strongest in the Demon Slayer series.

It was refreshing to see a Hashira as a source of comedic relief. Inosuke was still the primary driving force in this case. However, his interactions with Tengen Uzui were some of the funniest moments in the anime so far.

Tengen Uzui’s Arrogance Was a Breath of Fresh Air

It’s safe to say that there isn’t a single character like Tengen Uzui in Demon Slayer. He is one of the most charismatic characters in the series. However, many fans might compare him to Rengoku. That being said, Tengen Uzui has a sense of arrogance that is mildly amusing to fans of the series.

Fans love seeing Uzui’s arrogance because it elicits a certain kind of reaction from the characters around him. Zenitsu Agatsuma cannot stand that man. Therefore, seeing the dynamics of his relationship with the Sound Hashira becomes another source of entertainment in this story arc.

One of the best aspects of this arc was his conversation with Zenitsu and Inosuke prior to the duo joining the brothels as entertainers. Zenitsu’s irritation towards Tengen was hilarious, to say the least. However, Tengen Uzui really shined during the fight against Gyutaro.

His fight style was quite flashy, much like his personality. Furthermore, his grit and determination won over fans’ hearts. He quite literally fended off an Upper Moon demon with just one arm and ensured that his wives were safe. These are some of the reasons why fans loved Tengen Uzui in the Demon Slayer Entertainment District arc.

Demon Hunters vs Daki and Gyutaro

The fight between the demon hunters and the Upper Moon 6 demons is arguably the best fight sequence, in terms of animation quality. Ufotable pulled all the stops for this portion of the anime because the choice of colors, the fluidity in the animation, and the angles were perfect in every single frame. There was virtually nothing that fans complained about.

In fact, some believe that this was the reason why the Swordsmith Village arc was unsuccessful in comparison. The recency bias played a massive role. Furthermore, the sheer stakes in the fight were so high that fans were on the verge of making peace with the demon hunters’ deaths. Gyutaro’s poison would have killed everyone if not for Nezuko’s ability to heal them.

Daki and Gyutaro’s Backstories

Both Daki and Gyutaro had exceptionally sad backstories. The emotional scenes were seamlessly fused with the comedic ones, resulting in a very balanced and entertaining story arc. Daki and Gyutaro were born in the Yoshiwara District. However, Gyutaro was quite ugly, and he lived in an area where looks dictated one’s worth. His sister was quite beautiful.

Therefore, she became the most successful Oiran in the district. However, a mishap with a Samurai resulted in Daki being burned alive in Gyutaro’s absence. She was barely alive when he rushed home. It was at this point that he killed the Samurai and the owner of the establishment where Daki worked.

Following this, Kokushibo offered them the chance to live life once again by becoming demons. While they have committed heinous acts, they suffered at a very young age. This is also one of the reasons why the Demon Slayer Entertainment District arc was quite successful.
