Kagaya Ubuyashiki from the Demon Slayer series has been the topic of discussion among fans of the series. The latest season covered the events shown in the Hashira Training arc. The leader of the Demon Slayer Corps doesn’t receive much screen time in the anime series. However, the season finale involved Kagaya Ubuyashiki. Fans who haven’t caught up with it might not be aware of Ubuyashiki’s plan for Muzan.

The Demon King has been wreaking havoc for centuries. The Ubuyashiki Clan resolved to take down Muzan and free the human race from his wretched ways. Therefore, now would be a good time to review Ubuyashiki’s plan to defeat Muzan in the Demon Slayer series. He might seem calm and composed, but he harbors a lot of hatred for Muzan. This was evident in his interaction with him moments before his death.

Ubuyashiki had a plan to kill Muzan. However, he knew that it wouldn’t kill Muzan completely. That being said, his plan bought the demon hunters some time. The Hashira and Tamayo rushed to the scene, and they managed to land an attack on Muzan. Let’s take a closer look at Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s plan for Muzan and how he executed it.

Kagaya Ubuyashiki was already on his deathbed. He knew that he had little to no time left. However, he anticipated Muzan’s appearance before his death. Kagaya had a hunch that the Demon King would appear before him moments before his death. This is when he plotted to plant extremely powerful explosives in and around the entire mansion. His wife and two of his children willingly stayed by his side. He knew that Muzan wouldn’t suspect the possibility of explosives being set if he saw the children playing in a corner.

Since his children wanted to stay by his side, he instructed them to play in a corner. Ubuyashiki felt that this plan wouldn’t kill Muzan but buy some time for the demon hunters to make their first move. He wanted to take this opportunity to strike first and corner Muzan as soon as possible.

The Events That Transpired in the Hashira Training Arc

Muzan entered and went on talking about how much of an eyesore Ubuyashiki was. However, Muzan got a taste of Ubuyashiki’s fury and anger. Muzan had a massive superiority complex. However, Ubuyashiki remained unaffected by his words. Despite Muzan’s power, he wasn’t afraid at all. There was conviction and strength in his voice, which irritated Muzan. Even in his dying moments, Ubuyashiki didn’t show any sign of fear and spoke about his impending doom. Moments later, a massive explosion took place. The Ubuyashiki family died instantly, and Muzan lost a good chunk of his bones and muscle. However, he has the best regeneration in Demon Slayer. In the meantime, the Hashira and Tamayo converged on him.

Muzan showed signs of concern when the Hashira made their move. However, Nakime intervened shortly. The ground beneath immediately opened up to the Infinity Castle. All the Hashira and other prominent members of the Demon Slayer Corps were forced inside the castle. The Demon King wanted to handle them in the lair where the remaining Upper Moon demons lurk with an intense bloodlust for demon hunters.

The Demon Slayer series has done a remarkable job of connecting seemingly unrelated elements. Ubuyashiki and Muzan share a connection that might surprise fans who aren’t up to date with the anime. The Ubuyashiki Clan was cursed, and the male members could not live longer than the age of 25. This is why Kagaya’s face looked disfigured. His health declined exponentially after a certain age. That’s because there is a reason for this curse. The Ubuyashiki Clan is cursed because Muzan was born into this clan.

Kagaya is Muzan’s descendant, which is why his hatred for the Demon King is even more intense. The curse will only be lifted when humanity succeeds in killing him. Muzan’s death was inevitable as the human race got stronger and they persevered enough to take on and defeat the Demon King once and for all. This is how Kagaya Ubuyashiki and Kibutsuji Muzan are connected in the Demon Slayer series.

Did Ubuyashiki’s Plan Work in Demon Slayer

No, the plan didn’t exactly work the way Ubuyashiki intended it to. He didn’t account for Nakime’s interference. While the Hashira were able to corner him briefly, the tables quickly turned on them when they were dragged into the Infinity Castle. All the capable fighters have been gathered by Nakime. Muzan intends to separate the demon hunters and pick them apart one by one since there are plenty of tough Upper Moon demons lurking in the labyrinth.

The upcoming arc in the anime will showcase the demon hunters’ final stand against Muzan and his lackeys. They will put everything on the line to fight and kill Muzan once and for all. Once he is dead, humanity can live in peace as demons will cease to exist.

Conclusion

Kagaya Ubuyashiki is an interesting character in the Demon Slayer series. He is extremely compassionate and loves his demon hunters. However, he is also a strong individual who absolutely hates Muzan and his kind. Ubuyashiki may not be physically strong.

However, his courage in the face of adversity is inspiring, to say the least. Kagaya attempted to buy the demon hunters an opening to attack by sacrificing his life. This goes to show just how strong his resolve to beat Muzan was in the anime and manga series. Ultimately, humanity prevailed, and Muzan was vanquished once and for all.
