Alongside Sung Jin-Woo, his main love interest, Cha Hae-In, was one of the few characters from Solo Leveling that actually stood out. As the only female S-Rank Hunter of South Korea, she had a large fan following both within as well as outside the series. She certainly had her fair share of highs and lows throughout the series. Fortunately, she managed to get a happy ending with Jin-Woo in Solo Leveling‘s conclusion, as the couple got to grow old together.

Moreover, they even had a son together, named Sung Suho, who would go on to become the protagonist of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. As such, both her and Jin-Woo’s absence in Ragnarok came as an unexpected shock to everyone. It left a lot of fans with the burning question: Is Cha Hae-In actually dead in Solo Leveling: Ragnarok?

Fortunately, both Sung Jin-Woo and Cha Hae-In were stated to be alive during the events of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. The couple’s whereabouts have remained a mystery for quite some time. However, it was eventually revealed that Jin-Woo was away fighting the Outer Gods alongside the Rulers. On the other hand, Cha Hae-In was trapped inside a dimensional rift for five years along with Kaisel.

What Happened to Cha Hae-In Solo Leveling: Ragnarok?

At the beginning of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, it was revealed that both of Sung Suho’s parents — Sung Jin-Woo and Cha Hae-In — were missing for several years. This development came out of nowhere, especially since the beloved couple were still shown to be together at the end of the original Solo Leveling series.

To start things off, let us first look at what happened in the ending of Solo Leveling‘s epilogue. Both characters were last seen in the last chapter, i.e., chapter 200 of the manhwa. After gifting Hae-In a necklace for their 16th anniversary, Jin-Woo asked her to head home first.

While Hae-In flew back home atop Kaisel, Jin-Woo was seen staring at a dimensional rift that opened up in front of him, presumably ready to enter it with his shadow soldiers. This marked the final appearance for both characters. Since then, the abrupt disappearance of both beloved characters has remained a mystery.

In the Solo Leveling: Ragnarok web novel, it was eventually revealed that on her way back home, both Cha Hae-In and Kaisel were pulled into a dimensional rift that suddenly opened up in front of them. At that point in time, Hae-In was just an ordinary human, which is why Kaisel chose to fly inside the rift to ensure her safety.

Apparently, the rift transported both Hae-In and Kaisel to a village of Ice Elves. During her time there, she eventually reawakened her Hunter powers from her previous life. This happened when she slayed an Apostle of the Itarim, aka a race of Outer Gods, that Sung Jin-Woo was currently at war with. Therefore, both Jin-Woo and Hae-In disappeared from Earth on the same day, leaving their son all alone.

Although she was absent for a significant portion of the series, Cha Hae-In’s prominence in the narrative never faded. As mentioned earlier, she was trapped inside a dimensional rift for a harrowing five years. In the village where she was transported along with Kaisel, she underwent a profound transformation.

After confronting and defeating an Apostle of the Itarim, Hae-In reawakened the latent powers from her past life. Thus emerged the fearsome S-Rank Hunter we all know and love, except now she was even stronger and more resolute than before. She even managed to return to Earth after the rift reopened in Ireland and reunited with her son, Sung Suho. All that remains is for Jin-Woo to return from his war against the Itarim for the full family to be whole once again.

Does Sung Jin-Woo Know About Cha Hae-In’s Disappearance?

Sung Jin-Woo and Cha Hae-In disappeared from Earth on the same day. Before heading off to fight against the Itarim, he gifted his wife a necklace for their 16th anniversary and instructed Kaisel to take her back safely. However, Hae-In got trapped inside a rift on her way back, where she was stuck for five years. The web novel never explicitly confirmed whether Jin-Woo realized his wife had vanished.

That said, since Jin-Woo had been battling against the Itarim in outer space for all these years, it’s safe to assume that he never really got to know about his wife’s disappearance. Even if he did, he simply couldn’t abandon the battle to find her himself. Sending a soldier would have been fruitless as well, since she was stuck inside a dimensional rift.

Since Jin-Woo couldn’t return to Earth himself to ensure the planet’s safety, he sent his loyal shadow soldier, Beru, on his behalf. After arriving on Earth, Beru reunited with Suho and informed him about the war his father is currently fighting. When Suho revealed that Hae-In had been missing all this while as well, Beru was visibly taken aback. From that point onwards, Suho took the responsibility of finding his mother and protecting Earth on his father’s behalf.

So, will Cha Hae-in return in Solo Leveling: Ragnarok? Well, she has already made a comeback in the web novel and reunited with her son. All that’s left is for the webtoon to adapt this highly anticipated reunion.

It’s hard to tell exactly how much time the webtoon would need to adapt to this development. As of now, fans of the Solo Leveling: Ragnarok manhwa can rest assured that Cha Hae-In does eventually find her way back to her family. Her heartfelt reunion with her son reignited hope for Sung Jin-Woo’s eventual return as well.

Conclusion

Cha Hae-In’s prolonged absence from Solo Leveling: Ragnarok certainly caused a great deal of concern among fans. Fortunately, her absence wasn’t perpetual. Moreover, her ultimate reunion with her son led fans to believe that Jin-Woo was on his way back soon.
