How Powerful is Tatsumaki in One Punch Man? Analyzing her abilities and feats in the anime and manga series.
One Punch Man follows the story of Saitama, a hero who managed to break his limiters. He possesses unparalleled strength. The story is set in a world where heroes work for an organization, which has a hierarchy based on the heroes’ abilities. The S-class is reserved for the select few and there is one hero in particular who’s getting plenty of traction—Tatsumaki.
Tatsumaki is also known as the Tornado of Terror. Her psychokinetic abilities are among the best in the series, and she is ranked second among all S-class heroes.
How powerful is Tatsumaki in One Punch Man? Tatsumaki is one of the most powerful heroes in the organization. There are only a handful of people who can defeat her in the anime and manga series. Fans will know of Tatsumaki’s true powers when the Monster Association arc gets animated. Let’s take a closer look at Tatsumaki’s abilities and her feats in the manga.
Tatsumaki’s Abilities in One Punch Man
The Tornado of Terror managed to pull out the entire Monster Association hideout from the ground. She is powerful enough to nearly distort an entire city purely through her psychic abilities. Her true power is shown in her battle against the fusion of Orochi and Pyskos. These are two Dragon-level threats and they fused. Additionally, their battle potency increased substantially when God granted them powers.
Despite this combination, Tatsumaki overwhelmed her opponent. As a result, the Z-City was being distorted during the fight. Yusuke Murata, the manga artist, revealed a key piece of information during a stream in 2018. He stated that Tatsumaki could lift the entire Z-City if she wanted to. She can also use her psychokinetic powers to cause storms. The Tornado of Terror also has incredible defensive capabilities. She created a barrier so big that it quite literally enveloped the whole of Z-City.
Tatsumaki also has telepathic abilities. She is quite protective of her younger sister, Fubuki. If her younger sister is in danger, she can sense it. Tatsumaki can also manipulate one’s life forces. However, this is not effective on people who are either strong-willed or have their limiters broken.
Tatsumaki’s Most Notable Feats in One Punch Man
Fans witnessed flashes of her brilliance in season 1, when Boros’ ship fired hundreds if not thousands of cannons towards the Earth. She was able to suspend the projectiles in the air and send them back toward the ship. This destroyed the entire ship in an instant, and she did so without even breaking a sweat.
As mentioned earlier, Tatsumaki literally pulled the entire Monster Association’s base from the ground into the air.
This was a massive base that housed thousands of monsters. Following that, her fight against Pyskorochi was impressive. Tatsumaki was powerful enough to not only hold Genos in one hand, and divert a massive beam of energy that Psykorochi launched. During this fight, she used the Monster Association’s base as a weapon. Since it resembled a spear, she quite literally lit the entire building and treated it like a weapon against Psykorochi.
The Tornado of Terror proceeded to fold Pyskorochi and most of Z-City. Her monstrous psychic abilities shocked everyone around her. She showed everyone why she is the second-strongest hero in the Monster Association.
Tatsumaki’s Rank in the Hero Association
Given Tatsumaki’s incredible powers, she is an S-Class hero in the association. There are about 13 S-class heroes, and this is bound to change as the series progresses. Among the 13, she is ranked 2nd on this list. She is one of the strongest fighters on the planet barring Saitama and Blast. The latter is ranked no.1 in the association. He is so strong that he fights interdimensional threats, and only appears when a monster is capable of devouring the entire planet.
The show relies a lot on comedy and logic takes a back seat. This is why Saitama is not an S-class hero at the time of writing. He is an A-class hero who has no intention of climbing this ladder. That being said, it’s unlikely that Tatsumaki’s rank will change. However, we cannot rule out the possibility since she could get stronger as the One Punch Man webcomic progresses.
Tatsumaki’s Role in One Punch Man
Despite being one of the strongest characters in the series, she is a side character. She takes on the role of a major support character in One Punch Man. However, someone like Geno is more important to the story as well as the protagonist, making him the deuteragonist.
Tatsumaki’s contribution cannot be overstated since she saved Genos at a crucial moment. She also saved countless lives when the Monster Association was wreaking havoc. Therefore, it’s clear that Tatsumaki takes on the role of an important support character.
