The Like a Dragon series is returning this year with its spinoff title, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. February 21, 2025, is the official release date for the spinoff starring the legendary Yakuza, Gojo Majima. This will be the first title where the fan-favorite Gojo Majima will be the protagonist. Preorders for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii are currently live for the three editions of the game, including the Collector’s Edition.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Release Date
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is an action-adventure game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by Sega. Also, It is a spinoff of the Like a Dragon series. The game takes place after 2024’s Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth. February 28, 2025, was the original release date for the game. However, The Gojo Majima-focused spin-off will be released on February 21, 2025, for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
Players take control of the legendary yakuza, Gojo Majima. Stranded on an island and stripped of his memories, our protagonist now leads his new pirate crew to seek hidden treasures. Additionally, the game mainly has four different locations in total, Rich Island, Madlantis, Honolulu, and Nele Island. This game will have the original arcade beat-them-up combat, and Gojo will be able to utilize and switch between the familiar Mad Dog style and the new pirate-themed Sea Dog style. The two styles will have different Heat Actions.
The Mad Dog style will be primarily focused on speed, hand-to-hand combat, and defense, and the Sea Dog combat will allow Majima to dual-wield swords while having a pistol and a grappling hook and he will be able to perform mid-air combos as well. Moreover, crew vs crew battles on sea will be a new addition to the game.

If you pre-order the base version of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii then you will get a unique set of in-game items based on Ichiban Kasuga. These will include, Ichiban and his pet crawfish Nancy as crew members for your ship, and two outfits based on Ichiban in Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth for Majima.

Fans of the Yakuza franchise were pleasantly surprised when Sega announced that Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii would be released shortly after a year of Infinite Wealth. This spin-off takes inspiration from the older games’ “arcady” beat-em-up style combat system instead of the turn-based combat of the newer titles, which will be something refreshing. Fans are eagerly waiting to see Gojo Majima as the main lead of this spin-off.
