OnePlus’ latest flagship series is out now with two new phones and the OnePlus 13R is one of them. Let’s take a look at everything it offers.
OnePlus 13R, one of OnePlus’ latest flagship offerings, is finally out now. While being the more budget-friendly flagship option among the two, the device features a considerable upgrade over its predecessor, the OnePlus 12R.
While certain downgrades have been made to the OnePlus 13R when compared directly to the 12R, most of the upgrades make up for it. The removal of Dolby Atmos support and the use of Gorilla Glass 7i instead of Gorilla Glass Victus 2, as seen in the OnePlus 12R, are the said downgrades to the device. However, this doesn’t necessarily make it unworthy of an upgrade. Let’s take a look at the specifications, release date, and price to find out whether it is worth upgrading the phone.
What’s New in OnePlus 13R?
The OnePlus 13R saw a considerable upgrade in terms of its chipset—from Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 on the OnePlus 12R to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 on the 13R. Additionally, it has received body upgrades, including reduced thickness at 8mm, which makes the phone lighter.
There have been major upgrades in terms of the camera, which we will see in detail under the specifications. However, if charging is a significant purchasing decision for you, there’s room for reconsideration when it comes to upgrading from the 12R. This device comes with an 80W adapter, which is a downgrade from the 100W brick that came with the former.

OnePlus has released the 13R model in two color variants: Nebula Noir and Astral Tail. Additionally, it comes in two memory/storage variants:
- 12 GB RAM + 256 GB Storage – $599.99
- 16 GB RAM + 512 GB Storage – $799.99

With a budget-friendly price for a flagship smartphone, the 13R makes up for all the upgrades that compensate for the minor downgrades. If you already own a 12R, it might not make sense to upgrade unless the camera upgrade is a priority. On the other hand, if you don’t own the older model, the 13R is definitely a great choice.
