Should You Skip Any Spy X Family Arc?

Spy X Family is one of the few series where no arc is worth skipping. This is because every arc has something new to offer, which adds significantly to the development of each character as well as the overarching narrative. Some arcs primarily focus on action, whereas others emphasize humor and family dynamics. The series’ charm lies in perfectly balancing all of these aspects.

For example, the Cruise Adventure arc mostly sees Yor in action against multiple skilled assassins. On the other hand, the Stella Star arc sees Anya and her friends taking on several challenges in order to earn Stella Stars. Although certain parts of some arcs may feel like filler to many, none of them are completely indispensable to the overall narrative.

In Spy X Family, the Introduction arc, i.e., the first arc of the series, is the shortest story arc. The manga covers it in the first two chapters, whereas the anime covers it in its first two episodes. This arc introduces the master spy Twilight, who is tasked with accomplishing Operation Strix in order to maintain peace between the countries of Westalis and Ostania.

On the other hand, the Cruise Adventure arc, i.e., the tenth arc of the series, is the longest story arc as of now. The manga covers it in 15 chapters, whereas the anime covers it in 7 episodes. It takes place after the Imperial Scholars Mixer arc. It follows Yor Forger, aka the assassin Thorn Princess, taking on a mission to protect Olka Gretcher and her son from a group of skilled assassins aboard a cruise ship. However, Yor faces more challenges and complications during her mission, as she also has to keep her secret identity hidden from Loid and Anya, who unexpectedly win tickets to board the same cruise ship.
