The Demon Slayer Corps is one of the most important elements in the story. This is the organization that comprises all the demon hunters who wish to defeat Muzan and subsequently, every demon that exists in the series. The story is set in a world where demons run rampant, killing humans to satiate their hunger cravings. These demons came from Muzan, who has the ability to turn any human being into a demon. Since he is technically immortal, he has caused problems for humanity for centuries.

Naturally, the human race wanted to put an end to his schemes. The Demon King wished to find the Blue Spider Lily, which would grant him true immortality. The Demon Slayer Corps came into being because he needed to be stopped.

The organization is rather large, and it has a hierarchy in place. Since this is an old organization, there are various positions, each having a specific role to play in the fight against demons. As the series progressed, the organization slowly started to have a positive impact on the human race. Let’s take a closer look at the organization, what they do, and how it is structured in the animanga series.

The Demon Slayer Corps is an extremely old organization that has existed for centuries. This organization has one goal, and that is to kill Kibutsuji Muzan. He is the first-ever demon to come into existence. Since then, the sheer number of demons increased astronomically. Not only did the numbers increase, but each of those demons became incredibly powerful. This is why the Demon Slayer Corps had to recruit more demon hunters and train the regiment to take on some of the strongest demons in the series.

The citizens of the country have a great deal of respect for the Demon Slayer Corps. This can be seen in the way they treat demon hunters. Another interesting fact is that the current generation of demon hunters is considered the strongest among the lot. While Yoriichi was the strongest demon hunter ever, the current roster is exceptionally strong as a unit. Their performance in the manga is a testament to their strength and efficacy as a unit.

Demon Slayer Corps Hierarchy

The Oyakata-sama is the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps. He is responsible for the smooth operation of the organization. Assigning the right amount of demon hunters for each mission is one of the most crucial tasks that the leader would have to carry out. The Hashiras report to him directly. Following this, we have the demon hunters. Among the demon hunters, the Hashira, or Pillars, take the top spot. They are the most powerful demon hunters and are essential in defeating the Upper Moon demons. The nine Hashira are Shinobu Kocho, Tengen Uzui, Muichiro Tokito, Mitsuri Kanroji, Obanai Iguro, Sanemi Shinazugawa, Giyu Tomioka, Kyojuro Rengoku, and Gyomei Himejima.

The demon hunters have to climb the ladder as there are seven ranks before they can become a Hashira – Mizunoto, Mizunoe, Kanoto, Kanoe, Tsuchinoto, Tsuchinoe, Hinoto, Hinoe, Kinoto, and Kinoe. We have cultivators, whose job is to find potential demon hunters and nurture their swordsmanship. Jigoro and Saknoji Urokodaki are fine examples of this position. The Kakushi are the supporting staff of the Demon Slayer Corps. They help the injured swordsmen during missions and transport them back to the headquarters. Last but not least, we have swordsmiths. They live in a village whose location is unknown to most people. They are responsible for crafting swords that are capable of killing demons.

Leader of the Demon Slayer Corps

Kagaya Ubuyashiki serves as the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps. Oyakata-sama is the title given to the leader of this organization. However, his physical abilities are well below average, and he doesn’t even have the strength to swing a sword. That being said, he has the gift of foresight, which he uses to assign demon hunters on missions such that the organization suffers the least amount of loss. He is invaluable to the organization. In his dying moments, he sacrificed his life to attack Muzan and buy the demon hunters some time.

He hails from the Ubuyashiki Clan. Kagaya didn’t live for too long because of his lineage. This clan is afflicted with a curse that prevents male members of the clan from living longer than the age of 25. However, the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps received the gift of foresight to battle demon hunters. There was one way to lift the curse that afflicts this clan – Muzan’s death. This is also why the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps looks frail and has wrinkled skin that looks like it’s slowly dying. Kagaya Ubuyashiki was a wonderful leader, and everyone in the organization loved him. He played a crucial role in the manga despite not receiving much screen time.

Did the Demon Slayer Corps Succeed?

In short, yes, the Demon Slayer Corps succeeded. The strongest generation of demon hunters came through as they managed to defeat Kibutsuji Muzan. However, it took the combined efforts of numerous entities to defeat Muzan. In fact, the Demon Slayer Corps took the help of another demon to defeat Muzan. Tamayo played an integral role in crafting the drug that stopped Muzan from splitting into thousands of pieces. Kagaya Ubuyashiki and his children helped the demon hunters achieve this victory as well. It took the combined efforts of all members of the organization to overcome and defeat Muzan.

Conclusion

The Demon Slayer Corps, as an organization, fought against demons for centuries. This organization is the result of humanity’s indomitable will. Many lives were lost, and generations went by before Muzan was killed. However, this organization finally succeeded, and it put an end to Muzan’s tyranny. This organization was led by those who were natural leaders. It was a rollercoaster of a ride to see the demon hunters finally succeed and kill Muzan and his lackeys towards the end of the manga series.
