Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf! started airing on January 10, 2025, and has two episodes released at the time of writing this article. The series is slated to have 12 episodes in total and airs at 10 pm JST on AT-X while appearing one day later in TBS, MBS, and CBC’s Animeism programming block. It also airs three days following release on the BS11 platform.

For global audiences, the series is currently available on Crunchyroll. Fans from the USA may also find it on Amazon Prime Video. The series began airing at the following time for different zones:

Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf! is being adapted by Studio Zero-G, known for its work on Grand Blue, Farming Life in Another World, and many more titles. The series is directed by Tooru Kitahata, while the script and series composition are taken on by Aya Yoshinaga. Both are veterans in the industry, tried and tested in the fantasy genre.

Importantly, Madoka Hirayama is tasked with character design and is the chief animation director. For the audio aspect, Hiroto Morishita is the sound director, and Kanako Hara is in charge of the music.

The opening theme, “Palette Days” is performed by Rico Sasaki, and the closing theme, “Yummy Yummy” is courtesy of Kanae.

Last but certainly not least, the source material was created by Suzuki Makishimi and illustrated by Yappen.

What Is Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf! About?

Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf! is a unique story where the protagonist, Kazuhiro is transported to a fantasy world upon falling asleep. Believing this to be part of his dreams, he traverses this stunning setting with his friend, an older but cute elf girl named Mariabelle. 

During an adventure, both he and his companion end up dying at the hands of a dragon, following which Kazuhiro wakes up. To his surprise, however, he finds the beautiful elf from his dreams lying next to him. Discovering that his fantasy life is real, Kazuhiro shows Japan off to Mariabelle while bonding with her. As the two spend more time together, we watch the relationship strengthen, clearly heading towards a step further than friendship. 

Is Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf! Based on a Manga?

Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf! is not originally based on a manga, but a light novel. The novel started publishing in 2018 and is ongoing with over 9 volumes. At the same time, if you wish to enjoy the story through another medium, there is also a manga version of Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf!

This manga is quite far ahead, having had 53 chapters released. Hence, for those who are impatient for anime episodes and unwilling to read light novels, this is a valid alternative. The light novel and manga are available on J-Novel Club for fans to enjoy.
