Jugram Haschwalth is introduced as the Sternritter’s Grandmaster in Bleach, holding the most influence after Yhwach himself. He is assigned the “B” Schrift, standing for The Balance. Haschwalth is a calm and composed man who is highly respectful towards his superior.
He does not tolerate others disrespecting him and believes all Quincies exist solely for the sake of Yhwach’s goals. However, this was not always the case as he was once a young, powerless Quincy. While living a colorless life and facing abuse at home, Haschwalth met Bazz-B and the two became friendly.
During one of Yhwach’s crusades, Bazz-B’s village was burned down, after which the boy took Haschwalth with him to gain revenge. While training to grow stronger, Bazz-B made great strides whereas Haschwalth still couldn’t manifest his Quincy powers.
Coincidentally, during their adventures, they ran into officers of Yhwach who were looking to recruit for the Sternritter. When Bazz-B was showing off his powers, Yhwach himself showed up. The Quincy King expressed that Haschwalth had the same abilities as him i.e. he could empower those next to him. This was the reason why Bazz-B had gotten stronger, proving it was false that Haschwalth himself was weak.

As we have already seen, Jugram Haschwalth can give powers to others, greatly improving Bazz-B’s powers when they were children. He can also use The Almighty when Yhwach is asleep, glancing into future events and making plans accordingly.
Haschwalth’s primary ability is The Balance, an extremely broken skill. Through this, he can restore balance in any situation where the scales are skewed. This can come in the form of nullifying abilities that Haschwalth believes are blessed with “good fortune” and returning damage dealt to him back to the wielder.
The ambiguous nature of his ability, which seems to completely rely on his perception, ironically gives him the upper hand in every battle. Additionally, Haschwalth uses a unique shield that can absorb all his misfortunes and reflect them to his opponents.

Jugram Haschwalth’s Role in the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc
During the first Quincy attack on Soul Society, Haschwalth’s presence loomed large as he executed Yhwach’s orders with unerring loyalty. Soon after the assault began, Haschwalth ran into Hidetomo and comfortably cut him down.
When Ichigo’s spirit energy seemed to grow, Haschwalth was willing to cut him down instantly but was stopped by Yhwach. Later, during the second invasion, Haschwalth was held back by Nanao’s barriers, sharing insightful conversations with Shunshui. This was also the point where we watched The Balance in action, punishing Cang Du for losing.
In the Wahrwelt, Haschwalth played a crucial role in overseeing events with The Almighty. We got to experience his backstory with Bazz-B as well as a poignant battle that ended with the latter’s defeat. Later, the antagonist also fought Uryu, whom he had suspected from the very beginning.

When looking to end the battle with The Balance, Uryu turned the tides with his Schrift, Antithesis. This was highly similar to Haschwalth’s ability, which could reverse anything that had already happened between two targets. Hence, the damage dealt to him would be reversed to his enemy, due to which Haschwalth was fatally wounded.
As the two continued their battle of endurance and abilities, they shared their ideals. Uryu expressed his loyalty to his friends over the Quincies, only for Haschwalth to dismiss his thoughts.
At this point, the Sternritter Grandmaster is hit by Yhwach’s Auswählen, which let the Quincy King reabsorb the powers he had distributed. Having lost his abilities, Haschwalth lay on death’s door, still dedicated to Yhwach. Nevertheless, he seemed to empathize more with Uryu right before dying, healing his injuries and passing away.
