Who Is Mirio Togata in My Hero Academia?
Mirio Togata is an optimistic individual who displays all the best features of an ideal hero. He is introduced as a part of U.A. High School’s Big Three, the trio of the strongest students in the entire institute.
Mirio’s main goal is as honest as his personality: to inspire and protect others as a hero they can look up to. As a child, he was saved by a Pro Hero and gained the motivation to similarly protect others. Mirio might seem goofy and unserious, constantly cracking bad jokes, but he is dedicated and practical.
His major role in the series was to defend Eri against Overhaul, an endeavor for which he was even willing to sacrifice his Quirk. When he initially met Overhaul, he recognized the difference in strength and prevented himself and Deku from following him. Mirio’s pragmatism makes him realize that he can’t save everyone, but he will still try his best. Mirio is a very clever fighter and would prove a good match for the strongest in the series. The same holds true if he faces Deku too. However, while the two have never gone head-to-head, Deku simply holds too much power as the protagonist for Mirio to overcome. As the ninth holder of One For All, Deku could use the abilities of all his predecessors.
This gave him a diverse set of skills that could work in both short and long ranges. He is also analytical enough to come up with a counter to Mirio’s Permeation abilities. Hence, while it is unlikely for the two to fight considering their personalities, if they went all out, Deku would inevitably come out victorious.

Mirio plays an important role in the Final War Arc, fighting Tomura along with many other heroes. While feeling devastated at Bakugo’s “death,” he is reassured by Edgeshot and quickly bounces back to face off against the antagonist, providing enough time for Deku to return and face Tomura.
While this marked the end of Mirio’s fights in My Hero Academia, he was instrumental in providing important information to Deku. He explained how Tomura hadn’t fully merged into his new body yet and was prone to outbursts. Deku could take advantage of this in his fight against the villain. While All For One and Tomura were having their respective battles against the main characters, Mirio carried the injured heroes to safety.
