Toya Todoroki was slowly dying, but the medical facilities were good enough to keep him alive for a while. The entire Todoroki family was present as they wanted to talk to him. Furthermore, the fanbase was quite upset that the epilogue didn’t give any attention to Deku’s very first line, “This is the story of how I became the #1 hero.” Fans assumed that he would continue to be the top-ranked hero. However, Deku no longer has any of his powers, which was another source of fans’ frustration. This, paired with the fact that he and Uraraka barely spent any time on screen, angered them further. The final chapter showed Deku and Uraraka wanting to spend more time talking to each other.

As mentioned earlier, the My Hero Academia epilogue divided the fanbase. There were plenty who didn’t mind the ending, while some weren’t happy with how it was handled. It certainly lacked a level of depth and cohesion that is expected in an epilogue featured in a series like this. Furthermore, Kohei Horikoshi has shown the fans that he is capable of excellent storytelling. This was a massive letdown in that department. It was rushed and incomplete.
Fans would love the epilogue if the author had enough time to spend on each of the characters and give an appropriate ending for each of them. Furthermore, fans wished to see more Deku-Uraraka interaction. That being said, Deku told Uraraka that he wanted to spend more time with her. This is as good as a love confession given how well these characters handle conversations pertaining to their romantic lives.
