Frostpunk 2 will feature official mod support via the FrostKit Tool, which will be available from day one of the game’s release.
As the release date of Frostpunk 2 draws near, you may want to know if the game will feature mod support. Luckily, Frostpunk 2 will fully support mods, and the developers at 11 bit studios have worked on a separate tool for this very purpose.
Frostpunk 2 will feature mod support via a tool called FrostKit. In this article, we will explore how it will function in the post-apocalyptic landscape of the upcoming game.
Frostpunk 2 Will Feature Official Mod Support Via the FrostKit Tool
FrostKit Tool is 11 bit studios’ solution for modding in Frostpunk 2. In an official video on YouTube, the Technical Director at 11 bit studios, Szymon Jablonski, said:
“Before you ask, the answer is a big yes. Frostpunk 2 will have full mod support.”
Jablonski explained that requests for mod support had poured in since the days of the original Frostpunk. However, due to the limitations of the title, mods could not be implemented then.
Frostpunk 2, on the other hand, runs on Unreal Engine, and this has allowed the developers to create a dedicated mod support tool. In fact, the FrostKit Tool will easily allow you to create your haven and mod it.
Szymon further revealed that Frostpunk 2 will feature dedicated mod support via the official tool from day one. He went on to say:
“With this tool, you will be able to build or modify practically everything inside your game.”
With the official modding, you will be able to create custom maps, models, and very specific scenarios. According to Szymon, the possibilities are endless, and you can create anything that you imagine in-game.
Frostpunk 2 will officially release on September 20, 2024, and is currently available for pre-order. If you want to have 72-hour early access to the game, get the Frostpunk 2 Deluxe Edition, which is priced at $74.99.
