Asmongold and Elon Musk have been embroiled in a controversy following the Space X owner’s Path of Exile 2 livestream on X.
Elon Musk has never concealed his passion for video games and keeps his fans informed about his gaming experiences on a regular basis. Elon was recently removed from Path of Exile 2 for performing too many actions in a short period of time. Musk claimed that his gameplay was so flawless that the anti-cheat mechanism in Path of Exile 2 mistook it for macros, which is a tool for automating tasks.
While this demonstrates that the wealthiest man on the planet still has time to play, it also causes other players to question their abilities. They wonder whether Musk is actually in charge of these gaming achievements.
Controversial Twitch streamer Asmongold weighed in on the topic, questioning Musk’s credibility in terms of his gaming accomplishments. Moreover, he said that Musk would most likely not reach Level 97 in Path of Exile 2. Asmongold even made an offer to stream on Twitter for a year if Musk could provide proof of his accomplishments.
“Did Elon Musk play this account to level 97? The answer is very simple: No. Unequivocally, without a doubt. If Elon Musk can prove that he played this account to 97, I will stream on X, starting the day that he proves it, for an entire year straight, every single stream.”
However, this would not be an exclusive contract because Asmongold said he would still stream on Twitch. Additionally, he suggested that this could be more about Musk’s “ego” and that people would appreciate him more if he was honest rather than attempting to impress them with achievements that he may not have accomplished himself. He said:
“I think he is account-sharing, for sure. Trying to have somebody play your account and get people to think you’re a serious, real gamer, is ridiculous. It’s embarrassing. Extremely f**king lame.”
Elon Musk Unfollowed Asmongold on Twitter
On January 15, 2025, Asmongold was replying to posts on his own subreddit during a livestream when one of his viewers informed him that he had been unfollowed by Elon Musk on social media. According to the streamer, Musk was “not happy” with a video he made regarding the Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2) controversy. He stated:
“‘Elon unfollowed Asmon.’ He’s probably not happy about the PoE video. He’ll get over it. Listen, it was so obvious! You cannot get mad at me for bringing this up. Everybody was talking about this! Come on, man! Come on! What is this? ‘He responded about it.’ You know what’s really funny about it… is I saw that. Let me see if I can pull it up and find it.”
Moreover, Elon Musk took to X to give a response about the whole situation. He replied to a post by Screamheart on X and said that even though Asmongold acts like he is “independent,” he has to ask his boss for permission.
