Asmongold defended ExtraEmily after she allegedly said the N-word when talking to fellow Twitch streamer Russel during a livestream.
Internet users recently accused Twitch streamer Emily “ExtraEmily” Zhang of using the N-word during a broadcast on February 22, 2025. She denied the accusations and claimed she misspoke when trying to say Nick “Nmplol” Polom’s name. Fellow content creator Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt defended her saying that she didn’t say the word and the drama around the incident was unnecessary.
Asmongold said internet users tend to scrutinize streamers when they say things awkwardly. He claimed most streamers are not “stupid” enough to say the N-word on stream and that people just want to get mad by “pretending to see things that are not there”.
He compared ExtraEmily’s incident to the time Felix “Pewdiepie” Kjellberg intentionally used the word. Asmongold said that Pewdiepie was angry at Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) which is why he used the word. He claimed that in Emily’s case, she had no reason to use the word, and people were just taking the situation out of context.
Asmongold Talks About ExtraEmily’s Recent Controversy
During a livestream on February 23, 2025, Asmongold addressed the recent controversy saying:
“Who the f*ck would say the N-word in the middle of the stream? And that’s the thing, Emily is not stupid. right? Do you think she is really going to go ahead and say the -word on stream? I used to say it all the time, I never say it now. I have never accidentally said the N-word on my stream yet. Never!”

He called out Twitch viewers who were upset at the situation saying:
“The funny thing is that every time somebody says something in a weird way, everybody goes and acts like they said the N-word. She did not say that, she said ‘Nick uh,’ right? She did not say the N-word, right? That’s a very, very different thing to say. But, that doesn’t matter, right?”
The streamer claimed that people get mad about these things repeatedly and the situation would die down soon.

Russel responded to her question:
“Uhh…ExtraEmily. Uhh…Emily. Uhh…Extra. That’s three.”
Emily stuttered and said something that sounded like the N-word. She claimed that she tried to say “Nick” and tried to correct herself when she realized she was talking to Russel and not Nick Polom. Despite the streamer explaining the situation and Asmongold defending her, some internet users were not convinced.
