Learn about the different attack patterns the Skeleton King will use in Ball X Pit and how to defeat it to advance.
Skeleton King is the first boss battle you will encounter in Ball X Pit. Through the Bone X yard level, there are three boss fights in total, with two mini bosses coming before the Skeleton King. After defeating the Skeleton King, the level will come to an end. There are a predictable number of patterns the king will constantly use to slow down your momentum and defeat you. Getting the hang of these patterns, however, is quite simple.
In this article, we will look at how to complete the Skeleton King boss fight in Ball X Pit.
Skeleton King Boss Battle Guide in Ball X Pit
One major advantage you have in this boss fight is the reduced hitbox. There may be times when you see a projectile passing through you without you taking any damage. This is because only the center portion of your body can take a hit. Considering how much of a pattern the Skeleton King uses with its bullets makes them easier to dodge.
While inflicting damage on the Skeleton King, remember to target its skull. You can deal it damage by directly attacking the chin section, or by sending the balls behind the King to attack its crown. Attacking it anywhere else will prove futile, as the hits wouldn’t register. The Skeleton King, on the other has five different patterns it resorts to using to reduce your health.
Here are the different stages of attacks you can expect during the battle with Skeleton King.
Patterned Bullet Spray
This is the most common stage that the Skeleton King will resort to using. This is also the easiest to dodge. All you need to do is maintain a good distance during this round. As the bullets appear closer and closer, the distance between each will increase, giving you ample space to dodge between them. Per round of bullets, you may slightly have to shift left or right, but that’s about it.
Burst-Fire Bullet Spray
The Skeleton King will begin to shoot a group of fast bullets. Between each round, there is a breather, a gap. You can use this gap to navigate to the left or side of the map. For this stage, it’s best to stay somewhere in the middle of the area to have enough time to slip from left to right. The bullets will only spread as they move, increasing the distance you will need to travel if you are further away. When closer, the bullets are still close-knit. So it’s easier to move around.
Assorted Bullet Spray
During this stage, the King will shoot a series of bullets in a spray manner, going from left to right to left in a loop. Keeping your distance is better, considering the spread of the bullets as they travel further. The best strategy for this is to pick a sweet spot and hold a position. You are most likely to dodge this stage without the need to move at all.
Hand Projectile
The Skeleton King will alert you when resorting to this stage by projecting a black patch on the grid. All you need to do is avoid the patch and move up closer to the King. Once it shoots its hand across the path, it will send out mini projectiles from both sides of the hand. The best spot to pick is just above the hand to avoid any contact with the hand. Do remember not to stand in the path of the hand as it will return to the Skeleton King after a few seconds, still able to inflict damage.
Mini-Enemies Spawn
Last, but not least, the Skeleton King will have some enemies spawn at random locations on the grid. During this period, the King’s frequency of shooting bullets will reduce. This gives you more ground to cover and shortens the distance between you for firing more concentrated shots.
