Discover the best starting Lives in Fantasy Life i The Girl Who Steals Time, and how they support each other.

Fantasy Life i The Girl Who Steals Time has 14 Lives to unlock and choose from as you complete the game’s tutorial. These Lives function like jobs and classes, with each one falling into one of three broad categories: Combat, Crafting, and Gathering. At the start of the game, you begin with the Brand New Life, which comes with only a stick for defense and minimal specialization. Soon after, you’ll choose your first Life and begin exploring the island.
Best Classes for Beginners in Fantasy Life i The Girl Who Steals Time

We suggest the following order to choose your first three Lives:
- Miner > Paladin > Blacksmith
We recommend the Miner, Paladin, and Blacksmith paths because each of these jobs complements the others. A Combat Life like Paladin is required to clear caves and other enemy-filled areas, enabling the Miner to collect ores. These ores can then be used by the Blacksmith to craft improved gear for both the Miner and the Paladin. However, you are free to follow your own progression path as long as you understand the synergy between these roles.

First Life
After completing “Life on a Mysterious Island,” you will be given the option to choose your first Life. At this point, it is preferable to select a Gathering Life like Miner or Woodcutter. This will allow you to start leveling up your Life and its skills early while earning a lot of Dosh in the process. If you prefer fighting and adventuring, don’t worry — you will soon unlock your second Life and can switch between the two.
Second Life
Shortly after choosing your first Life, you will be able to speak with Auntie Ann at the Eternia Village Guild Office and unlock more Lives. At this stage, it is best to choose a Combat Life. Combat Lives are essential for taking down enemies across the map and for defeating bosses in the story. We recommend picking Paladin if you prefer melee combat, or Magician for ranged combat.
Third Life
Once you are ready to unlock your third Life, it’s time to try a Crafting Life. However, the Crafting Life you choose should align with your previous Life choices. Crafting Lives allows you to convert raw materials collected through Gathering Lives into finished products to support Combat Lives or to sell.
If you choose Woodcutter first, select the Carpenter Crafting Life to use harvested wood for making items. Otherwise, choose the Blacksmith Life to use ore collected by the Miner to craft tools and weapons.
Eventually, you’ll want to unlock all Gathering and Crafting classes to collect every resource you encounter and make the best use of them. You can change Lives at any time by using the “L” key or the D-pad. Keep in mind that picking up forageables only levels up your currently equipped Life, so switch to the one you want to level up before foraging.
