This deck is quickly shaping up to be one of the strongest new decks from the newest expansion. The deck relies on a dual attacking system, involving Flareon ex and Turtonator. You can use Flareon’s Ability to consistently use Fire Spin on every turn.

Turtonator is also a reliable backup or opening Pokemon to have, alongside Kiawe. Additionally, using Turtonator and Kiawe together lets you put energy in the discard pile, allowing Flareon to use its Ability. This is a viable deck to use in ranked battles.

Ideal Starting Hand for Best Flareon ex Deck

Ideally, the best opener for this deck would be Turtonator and Kiawe. You can deal 90 damage as early as turn 2 if you get both of these cards. Otherwise, having Eevee draw more cards is also not a bad deal.

Pokemon Communication. Professor’s Research and Poke Ball are never bad to have at the start. Lastly, Eevee Bag is also a generally good support card to have at any time during the match.

Best Flareon ex Deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket: Strategy

Here are some basic strategies to follow when using this deck:

  • Use Kiawe on Turtonator to get 3 Fire Energy on Turn 2, and one-hit most opposing Pokemon at this early stage.
  • Flareon’s Combust can take 1 Fire Energy from the discard pile, so try to play Flareon after Turtonator, so that Flareon is able to utilize its Ability.
  • Eevee Bag can be used depending on the situation, whether you need the attack buff or healing.

Best Matchups for This Flareon ex Deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket

The deck performs really well against most Grass-type decks. Some of these include Buzzwole and Leafeon. Most Grass-type cards have a weakness to Fire attacks. Other than these, Solgaleo is also weak to Fire, making it a prime target for this deck. Using two Eevee Bags, or even one Red is enough to knock out Solgaleo in one hit.

Additionally, this deck performs well against other slow starting decks like Darkrai and Giratina as well.

Counters to this Flareon ex Deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket

No deck is perfect. This deck also has some natural weaknesses that your opponents can exploit. Firstly, its major weakness is most Water type decks. Fortunately, there aren’t many strong Water decks in the best ranked decks right now.

The one exception presently seems to be Primarina ex, which is a force to be reckoned with, due to its high HP, and good healing capabilities. Other than this, energy disruption is another thing you need to watch out for. Guzzlord ex’s Grindcore attack or Team Rocket Grunt can mess up your plays, and penalize you immensely.

Best Flareon ex Deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket Eevee Grove: Tips and Tricks

Here are some tips to keep in mind while playing this deck:

  • Ideally, you will want Turtonator to start the battle. However, this is not guaranteed. So, you can use cards like Poke Ball and Pokemon Communication to draw into it.
  • You need to manage Eevee’s Combust Ability carefully, since it cannot be used if no Fire energy exists in the discard pile. This makes Flareon not ideal for starting the battle.
  • Two Eevee Bag cards and Red together can hit HP thresholds as high as 170 on their own. This can knock out many of the stronger Pokemon in the game, even with Giant Cape attached.
