Key Cards in the Giratina Ex Deck For Pokemon TCG Pocket

As mentioned above, the deck relies mainly on the three Pokemon present: Giratina, Darkrai, and Druddigon. Druddigon will be the defensive tank of the team, Darkrai will be dealing damage with its ability, and Giratina gets energy stacked up for a KO.

Other than these, you will obviously be using cards like Professor’s Research and Poke Ball, which are staples in every deck. Red is also useful for reaching the damage threshold for a guaranteed knockout.

How To Use and Basic Combos

Ideally, you should start the match with Druddigon in the active zone, and Darkrai or Giratina on the bench. Druddigon’s 100 Health and Rough Skin ability helps in chipping away the opponent Pokemon’s health and getting them within range for the final blow from Giratina. Additionally, you should use Rocky Helmet on Druddigon to increase this chip damage. A Potion can also increase Druddigon’s survivability if you are using one.

Early on, this combination will prevent most Pokemon from attacking straight up just from the fear of receiving 40 damage back. Meanwhile, you can set up energy on Darkrai to activate its Nightmare Aura and deal 20 more damage.

The above two Pokemon should be enough in most cases to put the opponent Pokemon within punching distance for Giratina to claim an easy victim. Moreover, Red will also be useful for piling on an additional 10 damage when needed.

So, whenever you are ready, just use Leaf and switch Giratina to the front and hammer away at your enemy’s active Pokemon. Once Giratina gets going, it will be quite difficult to stop.

Weaknesses and Counters To the Giratina Ex Deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket

This deck is particularly reliant on getting Giratina out early on. So, if you fail to accomplish that (even with a Poke Ball), then you could be in for a rough time. Moreover, cards like Sabrina, which can swap your active Pokemon out, can also be deadly. Since Sabrina is used in quite a lot of decks, you should be ready to get switched in battle.

This is because if Giratina has not met its energy requirements, there’s nothing else it can do. If Darkrai becomes the active Pokemon, you can at least try dealing some damage with its three energy requirement move.

Lastly, Darkrai is weak to Grass-type attacks, and Giratina is weak to Dark. Therefore, if you find yourself going against these types, you might struggle to survive. Luckily, Druddigon doesn’t have these weaknesses, so you can still do your setup without much trouble.
